    An Annotated Bio-bibliography of Two Major Nigerian Arabic Playwrights

    Abstract : Some Nigerian Arabic scholars saw the need of exhibiting their economic, cultural, socio-political and religious contributions to the national development via creative writing for its vast creation of understanding and enhancing effective emotional endowment from acting, this is in addition to their already identified classroom teaching, admonition presentation and conference attendance for promoting religious tolerance, peaceful co-existence and imparting vast knowledge, skills, ideas and values. Although, some topics extracted from the historical scenes in the Qur’an, Prophetic traditions and general early Islamic government had been staged in some Arabic schools in Nigeria since 1950s, but writing and publishing the original Nigerian Arabic plays started in 1994 till the present time, while Zakariyau Idrees-Oboh Oseni and AbdulGaniy Adebayo Alabi are the major playwrights among others, and their plays addressed different issues in Nigeria. Therefore, the researchers aimed at presenting the biographies of the selected playwrights and analyzing their works. The historical and analytical methods were used respectively in the discussions.

    دور القصة العربية في تطوير أدب الطفل الإسلامي (The Role of Arabic Story-Telling in Developing the Child’s Islamic Literature)

    ملخص: للقصة في مختلف اللغات العالمية دورها الفعَّال في ضبط المعلومات والحقائق التاريخية لسوادها، ولا تخفى غايتها الأساسية في التهذيب والترفية من خلال مصادرها الحقيقية والخيالية. وتظهر القصة بشتى الموضوعات الدينية والثقافية والاجتماعية والاقتصادية وغيرها. وللغة العربية تاريخ تطور القصة وانحطاطها في عصورها الأدبية. ومهما يكن من أمرٍ، فلا شك أن قلوب جميع الناس لا تزال ترتبط بمضامين القصة في درجات متقاوتة على مستوى مقدرة القصاصين في وضعها أو عرضها، مزوَّدةً بعناصرها وخصائصها الفنية؛ لكن للأطفال رغبتهم الشديدة في تعلمها أو تعلم موضوعات علمية أخرى بواسطتها من أثر فعاليتها في ضبط المعلومات في عقولهم. وتهدف هذه المقالة إلى دراسة دور القصة بلغة سردها العربية في تطوير أدب الطفل على مسار الاتجاه الإسلامي من خلال ضرب النماذج من قِصص القرآن، علماً بأن الإسلام هو المثل الأعلى في وضع القِصص العربية بغاية التأثير الإيجابي في الناس، إذ يستحيل وجودُ قصة قرآنية أو نبوية أو تهذيبية عن السلف الصالح إلا وتهدف إلى الإصلاح الفردي والبيئي والجماعي والعقلي تحت راية العقيدة والأخلاقية؛ ولهذا تُقِرُّ المقالة أهمية القصة العربية الإسلامية في صقل الشخصية الإنسانية، والبناء الاجتماعي، والتعليم والتسلية والترفية، ولا سيما لعقول الأطفال الناشئين التي لا تزال تخلو من عوائق الحاجات الشهوانية والاقتصادية. Abstract: Story, as a genre, as a prominent role in drawing the attention of the younger ones close to ideas and values via telling historic events either as fictional or non-fictional art. The objective of the paper was to pinpoint the effectiveness of story-telling in teaching the skills and knowledge to enable the learners excel in their religious, cultural, socio-economic and political life. It is obvious that people love to be told stories, although, they respond in different emotional drives from different levels of interests, all which cannot be up to the level of the children’s interests. On this note, the paper researched into this phenomenon, its merits and development and merits if properly maintained for positive life driven values including the spirituality, self reliance, ethical guidance and social rebranding as taught by the Qur’anic stoty-telling as the case study.
