However, involvement and impact of CSOs in Nigeria's democratic processes have been treated with mixed feeling. Journal articles. DFID report. USAID report and other similar international agencies. However. we discovered that there is absence of capacity development of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) at the state and local government level rather there is capacity development at the.national level. This has resulted to the marginalisation of state based civil society organisation that have contributed in demanding for accountability from political parties, elected officials, the media at-the state level. We argued here that for CSOs to effectively participate in democratic consolidation process in Nigeria their resource base and capacity must be enhanced for them to pay greater attention to grassroots development especially in the area of infrastructure.Item Electoral Violence and the Prospects of Peaceful 2019 General Elections in Nigeria(Jigawa Journal of Politics, Department of Political Sicence, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Federal University Dutse, Jigawa State, Nigeria., 2020-06) Abubakar, Abdulrahman; Zekeri, Momoh; Hassan, Adijat KuburatIn an ideal situation, elections ought not to be characterized by conflicts and violence if the actors were genuinely seeking power for the common good.
