Item The Role of Al-Ilory in the Spread of Arabic and Islamic Learning in Selected West African Countries.(Centre for Ilorin Studies (CILS), University of Ilorin, Ilorin., 2014) Yusuf, B. O.; Ibraheem, Lateef Onireti. It is the desire of most Muslims to possess knowledge of Arabic and Islamic studies in order to be able to understand Islam and its noble books correctly, as well as to practice its tenets from the position of enlightenment. That can be considered as role model and enroll in his Madrasah in order to acquire knowledge of Arabic and Islamic Studies. This paper highlights the efforts of the Grand Scholar of Yorubaland, Shaykh Adam Abdullah Al-Ilory, in attracting foreign students to Nigeria. As well as promoting Arabic and Islamic studies in selected West Africa countries, such as Benin Republic, Republic of Togo, Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire. The paper adopted interviews, field work, and other sources of information as its methods. It gives the account of the growth and developments of the Markaz, Arabic Training Centre, Agege, Nigeria, as the citadel which trained old and young men, who traveled out of their countries in search of the golden fleece. Documented in this work is the way through which Arabic and Islamic institutions began to emerge in the specified areas of West Africa.Item Sustaining Democracy and Promoting Peace in a Multilingual Country: The Role of Religion(Faculties of Arts and Social Sciences, University of Maiduguri, 2011) Adedimeji, M.
