Islamic Education, National Unity and the Clamour for Resources Control in Nigeria
(Department of Arts and Social Sciences Education, Lagos State Univesrsity, Nigeria, 2024) Abdur-Rafiu, J.; Owoyale,-Abdulganiy, I. S.; Yahya I. O.
The fact that unity brings about harmonious and peaceful coexistence in a given society makes it an imperative to devise all possible means to ensure that national unity is promoted in order to pave way for progress and development in the society. In addition, Nigeria is a nation with a lot of natural resources that can be explored to boost the nation's economy. In spite the natural endowments across all the regions in the country, it is still believed that the country grapples with challenges of economic crises. Perhaps, this has precipitated the clamours for resources control to be one of the bothering campaigns of the day. However, this study aims at reviewing the Islamic teachings that have bearing on the national unity and the issue of resources control with a view to unravelling the Islamic perspectives of the subject matters. Hence, descriptive and analytical approaches were employed in the study. Data were sourced from print and electronic materials. The study concluded that Islam, through its teachings, has versatile principles that can be employed in dealing with the issues of national unity and resources control.
