    DIGITIZATION IN EDUCATION SYSTEM AND MANAGEMENT OF EARLY CHILDHOOD CARE EDUCATION IN NIGERIA

    This study investigated digitization in education system and management of early childhood care education in Nigeria. The objectives of this study are to determine the relationship between collaborative learning, gamebased learning and management of early childhood care education in North-central, Nigeria. Two hypotheses were formulated and tested. Quantitative research design was used for the study. A self-designed questionnaire titled “Digitization and Management of Early Childhood Care Education Questionnaire” (DMECCEQ) was used to collect information for the study. This study focuses on public primary schools with early childhood care education in North-Central zone, Nigeria. The population of this study comprised all 2,729 head teachers and 5,529 teachers in public primary schools with early childhood care education in North-Central. Sample of 338 head teachers and 361 teachers were proportionally selected in the seven States with the use of Research Advisor (2006) table to determine the sample size of a known population, stratified random sampling technique was used to select primary school head teachers and teachers from the sample schools. This was to ensure that all categories of head teachers and teachers were given equal chance of being selected. The data collected were analyzed using t-test statistical analysis. All hypotheses were tested at the 0.05 level of significance. The result revealed that there was no significant difference between collaborative learning, game-based learning and management of early childhood care education in Nigeria. It was recommended that teachers should continue to make use of collaborative learning in order to increase pupils’ motivation to learn, also make use of appropriate game-based learning for learners to have better self-management, opportunities for collaborative and inquiry-based learning in order to enhance effective management of early childhood care education in Nigeria.

    Lecturers’ Occupational Stress and Productivity in Kwara State Owned Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria

    This paper examined the relationship between occupational stress and lecturers’ productivity in Kwara state owned tertiary institutions. Descriptive research design was adopted for the study. The target populations comprised all lecturers from the six state owned tertiary institutions. Proportional random sampling technique was used to select 500 respondents while stratified random sampling method was adopted to select four out of six tertiary institutions in the state. Questionnaire was the instrument used to elicit information from the respondents. Descriptive statistic of table and percentage were used to answer the two research question raised to guide the study while inferential statistic of Person product-moment correlation method was adopted to analysed the three research hypotheses generated for the study. The findings of this study revealed that lecturers in Kwara state polytechnics were more stressful than counterparts from other tertiary institutions. Generally, lecturers from the six state owned tertiary institutions were highly stressful. This study also discovered a significant relationship between occupational stress and lecturers’ productivity in the state owned tertiary institutions. The paper recommends provision of more instructional facilities to the state owned tertiary institutions. Lecturers should also be remunerated for excess work performed and be regularly paid and promoted as at when due.

    Vice-Chancellors’ Managerial Effectiveness in Edo and Kwara State Universities, Nigeria

    The quest for effective management of educational institutions in Nigeria required a concerted effort of all stakeholders in education system. Sequel to this, the paper examines the vice-chancellors managerial effectiveness of universities in Edo and Kwara states, Nigeria. The target population comprised all vice-chancellors in eleven (II) Universities in Edo and Kwara states (7 universities in Edo and 4 in Kwara states). Four universities were selected through a stratified random sampling technique in two states. Proportional sampling technique was used to select 2000 respondents comprising 1000 students and 1000 staff from four universities. Descriptive research design was adopted for the study. Two researchers design the questionnaires that were used to elicit information from the respondents. The first one tagged “Students’ Perception of Level of Vice-chancellors’ Managerial Effectiveness’’ Questionnaire (SPLVMEQ) was design to obtain the view of students on the subject matter. The second one entitled” Perception of members of Staff on Vice-chancellors’ Managerial Effectiveness Questionnaire (PSLVMEQ) was designed to obtain the opinion of academics and non-academic staff of universities on their vice chancellors.
