    Predictors of graduates employability of pre-services Social Studies teachers in University of Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria.

    This paper examined the Social Studies challenges of acquiring social life skills as predictors of graduates’ employability among pre-service teachers in University of Ilorin. It specifically examined pre-service teachers’ challenges of acquiring social life skills as predictors of graduates’ employability based on gender. The study adopted the descriptive survey ex-post facto type. The population of this study comprised the entire undergraduate population of University of Ilorin, Kwara state. The sample comprised one hundred and sixty (160) Social Studies pre-service teachers selected among four levels of undergraduates in the Department of Social Sciences Education, Faculty of Education, University of Ilorin using purposive and simple random sampling techniques. Researcher-designed questionnaire titled “Predictors of Graduates Employability of Pre-Services Social Studies Teachers in Univeristy of Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria” was used for data collection and data collected was analysed using percentages, mean, standard deviation and independent t-test statistical technique at 0.05 level of significance . Results revealed that challenges of acquiring social life skills as predictors of graduates’ employability in University of Ilorin among Social Studies Pre-Services Teachers was negative. Also, the result suggested that negative challenges of acquiring social life skills as predictors of graduates’ employability of female Social Studies pre-service teachers were more than their male colleagues. It was concluded that there are several challenges hindering effective acquisition of social life skills which in turn affected the graduates’ employability.
