Item Analysis of the Privacy Policies of Nigerian Online Shops(Faculty of Communication and Information Sciences, University of Ilorin, 2018-12) Bello, Olayiwola Wasiu; Oyekunle, Rafiat Ajibade; Adeyemi, RofiatAlthough privacy policies are posted by commerce websites to address privacy concerns of Internet shoppers including detailing their information practices on such policies, consumers seldom read and understand these policies. This study investigated privacy policy statements of 30 online shopping companies in Nigeria against the Fair Information Practice (FIP) principles. The privacy policy statements were examined and a checklist of 32 questions generated from the FIP principles was employed in carrying out the analysis. Findings from the study showed that most of the policies do not comply with the FIP principles entirely. The evaluated readability score (Flesch-Kincaid grade level, Flesch reading ease, the Gunning fog index and the SMOG readability formula), showed well above acceptable thresholds especially for public documents. However, majority of the policies showed proximity in terms of access as they can be reached through a single click from the landing page and contained how the information collected will be used. The study recommends that efforts should be made towards limiting the content and complexities of the policy statements using appropriate techniques and technologies and a regulatory body should be in place to review the privacy policy statements of online shops.Item IMPACT OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY ON MARITAL STABILITY AMONG FEMALE ACADEMIC STAFF(University of Sindh Journal of Information and Communication Technology (USJICT), 2019-04-30) Balogun, Naeem Atanda; Oniye, Abdulrasaq Olayinka; Aliu-Balogun, Muiba Alaba; Balogun, Usman Olakunle; Oyekunle, Rafiat Ajibade; Sulyman-Haroon, Shakirat Oluwatosin; Bunza, Hauwau Haliru; Abdulrahaman, Musbau DogoSocial media has affected the progress, development, and growth of many homes, positively we may say, however, negative aspects are also recorded. Many factors could be responsible for this influence. This study therefore, examined Social media use, age and educational level as determinants towards marital stability among female academic staff in the University of Ilorin, Nigeria. A descriptive survey research method was adopted for the study. The total numbers of seventy-three female respondents were selected from some faculties at the University of Ilorin using convenience sampling technique with the use of questionnaires to collect information from respondents. The data collected were carefully analyzed using frequency and percentages to represent the raw data in a meaningful manner. It was therefore discovered that social media does not cause an unhealthy relationship within the family. The study also found a significant relationship between marital stability and frequent use of social media. It is recommended that further research be conducted in other organizations, and across gender to further form a general opinion.Item The Use of Computer Based Testing Method for the Conduct of Examinations at the University of Ilorin(Department of Educational Administration and Planning, Faculty of Education, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife., 2012) Alabi, Afusat Titilayo; Issa, Abdulwahab Olanrewaju; Oyekunle, Rafiat AjibadeThis paper presents an overview of the application of Information and Communication Technology in the conduct of post-UTME and other examinations at the University of Ilorin.
