Item Attitudinal and practical differences between male and female primary healthcare workers towards prevention of healthcare associated infection in Kwara-North Senatorial District.(Department of Health, Safety and Environmental Health Education, Faculty of Education, University of Benin, 2021) Kperogi, I. F.This study examined Attitudinal and Practical Differences between Male and Female Primary Healthcare(PHCWs) towards towards Prevention of Health and Associated Infections (HAIs) in Kwara-North Senatorial District. The objectives of this research were to examine the attitudinal and practical differences between male and female primary healthcare workers towards prevention of healthcare associated infections in Kwara North Senatorial District. The study adopted a descriptive research design of the survey type, using a multi stage random sampling technique to select 760 PHCWs in Kwara North Senatorial District. Pretested semi structured questionnaire was used to collect data from selected PHCWs, while Mean and standard deviations as well as one sample t- test statistics were used to analyze the data on research questions and hypotheses respectively. Level of significance used was set at P. value <0.05. It was observed that there were more female PHCWs that had better attitude towards prevention of infections than their male counterparts. More so, higher number of the -female PHCWs had good practice of preventive measures during healthcare delivery process than their male counterparts (calculated t-value of 11.102 is greater than 1.972 t critical at df 758). It was therefore concluded that there was good attitude and practice among female PHCWs on preventive measures against HAIs in Kwara-North Senatorial District (calculated t-value of 20.313 is greater than 2.972 t critical at df 758). BAbstract Increase in a number of young people abusing drugs has become a subject of public concern worldwide. Therefore, the study investigated the causes of drug abuse as expressed by secondary school students in Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State, Nigeria. The population of the study comprises of all the secondary school students in Moro Local Government Area. The descriptive research design of survey type was adopted for the study. Four hundred and thirty (430) respondents were selected for the study with the use of purposive, proportionate and simple random sampling procedures. Researchers’ designed questionnaire that had been validated by three experts in the related field was used for the study. A test-retest method was used to ascertain the reliability of the instrument and the result of 0.72r was obtained. Inferential statistics of chi-square was used to analyze the result of the stated hypotheses at 0.05 alpha level of significance. The result of the findings of this study showed that peer group and poor parental communication had an influence on the causes of drug abuse (428.01> 16.92 at 0.05 alpha level of significant, 234.00>16.92) among secondary school students. The researchers concluded that peer group influence and poor parental communication causes drug abuse among secondary school students in Moro Local Government Area, Kwara State, Nigeria. The researchers’ recommended among others that Parents should show love, happiness and also take responsibility for helping secondary students to attain wholesome development into responsible adults. I.; Ibrahim, A. S.; Sayofunmi, O. F.; Isiaka, G.; Ogundiran, G. B.This study investigates the causes of marital infidelity among married residents in Ilorin metropolis, Kwara State. A descriptive research design of the survey type was used for this study. The population for the study comprises all married residents in Ilorin metropolis. A multistage sampling technique was used to select three hundred and eighty-three (383) respondents who participated in the study. A researcherdesigned structured questionnaire validated by three experts in the Department of Health Promotion and Environmental Health Education, University of Ilorin. The reliability of the instrument was ascertained through the test re-test method. A reliability coefficient of 0.74 was obtained. The three postulated hypotheses were tested using the parametric statistics of t-test, mean and standard deviation at 0.05 alpha level. The findings of this study showed that childlessness, lack of sexual satisfaction and distance between spouses were responsible for the marital infidelity in the study area. Based on the findings of the study, it was concluded that childlessness, lack of sexual satisfaction between spouses and distance between spouses were among the causes of marital infidelity among married residents in Ilorin metropolis. It was recommended that married residents should be informed that procreation is not the basis of marriage, the married partner should be able to adjust to the sexual demands of each other and spouses should not be far from each other, they should keep a close distance from each otherItem Causes of Under-Nutrition among Children Under Two Years as Expressed by Nursing Mothers in Moro Local Government Area, Kwara State, Nigeria(Faculty of Education, Rivers State University, Nkpolu-Oroworukwo, Port Harcourt, Nigeria., 2023) Ologele, I.The study examined causes of under-nutrition among children under two-years. A descriptive research design of survey type was used for this study. The study population comprised of nursing mothers with children under-two years in Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State, Nigeria. Multi-stage sampling technique was used to pick the respondents who participated in the study. Two hundred respondents were sampled for the study. Researchers developed a questionnaire validated by four experts in the related field and was used as an instrument for the study. The reliability of the instrument was confirmed through test retest and a coefficient of0.75 was obtained. Data collected for the study were analysed using inferential statistics of chi-square at a 0.05 alpha level of significance. The result showed that the economic status of mothers and their cultural practices contributed to the problem of under-nutrition while their educational status has no influence on children's nutrition in the study area. The study concluded that economic and cultural practices of nursing mothers with children under-two years responsible for under-nutrition while their educational level not responsible for under-nutrition. The researcher recommended among other that the government at all levels should develop measures that will reduce the price of foods and other household needs to enable mothers purchase nutritionally adequate diet that will protect the family against undernutrition.Item Determinants of cigarette smoking among secondary school students(Faculty of Education, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra, 2023) Ologele, I.; Jidda, K. P.The number of secondary school students engaging in cigarette smoking is increasing every day and thus contributes to the burden of non-communicable diseases which causes morbidity and mortality among young people and adults. Therefore, the study investigated the determinants of cigarette smoking among secondary school students. A descriptive research design of survey type was used for the study. The population of the study comprises secondary school students in the study area. The target population comprises the secondary school students of the selected schools. Multi-stage sampling technique was adopted for the study. Purposive, proportionate and convenience sampling techniques were used to select two hundred and forty-two (242) respondents who participated in the study. The researcher developed a questionnaire validated by three experts from the related field was used as an instrument for the study. Three hypotheses were developed for the study. The findings indicated that social pressure, stress and school type had significant determinants of cigarette smoking among secondary school students. Undergraduate students are particularly vulnerable to the problems associated with academic stress. It is essential to comprehend the factors that determine stress among undergraduate students if we are to gain sufficient and proficient intervention strategies. Therefore, the study investigates the factors that determine stress among Undergraduate students at the faculty of Education, University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria. Descriptive survey design method was adopted for the study. The Undergraduate students at the faculty of Education, University of Ilorin, Nigeria constituted the study population. Two hundred and forty (240) Undergraduate students formed the sample size. The respondents were selected for the research using a multi-stage sampling technique. A structured questionnaire that had been validated by 3 experts from the related fields was used as a research instrument. Consistency of the instrument was established through a test-retest approach and the result of 0.86r was obtained. Inferential statistics of chi-square were used to analyze the outcomes of the data collected. The findings revealed that academic, environmental and personal factors constitute stress among undergraduate students. The researcher recommends among other things that the university authority should reduce the number of elective courses allocated for undergraduate students to ease their stress exposure to excess academic workload.Item Effect of Health-Education Intervention on Knowledge and Adherence to Covid-19 Protocols among Kwara State Secondary School Students.(Published by University of Botswana., 2023) Jidda, K. M.; Ologele, I.This research examined whether or not secondary school pupils in Kwara State understood and followed COVID-19 recommendations after receiving a health education intervention. A quasi-experimental approach was taken for this study. Participants' entering behaviours or prior knowledge were assessed, and participants' knowledge gains following the intervention were measured using a non-randomized pre- and post test control group design. All high school senior students in Ilorin, Kwara State, were included in the study, but only 116 students from the Ilorin East and South LGAs were surveyed for the study. Students in senior secondary school from two distinct local governments were randomly selected using a multistage selection procedure. The results showed, for example, that students who were exposed to the COVID-19 protocol (treatment intervention) scored higher on the post-test regarding their knowledge of COVID-19 compared to those who were exposed to the personal hygiene protocol (placebo), who scored higher on the post-test regarding their knowledge of COVID-19 but scored lower on their adherence to the COVID-19 protocol. The study revealed that the health education intervention significantly improved students' knowledge of and compliance with COVID-19 protocols in Kwara State's secondary schools. Consequently, it has been proposed that professional associations spanning several fields collaborate to provide health education interventions aimed at fostering compliance with COVID-19 standards, with a particular focus on the male demographicItem EFFECTIVENESS OF SLOW-MATION PACKAGE AND POWERPOINT PRESENTATION ON ACHIEVEMENT OF PRIMARY SCHOOL PUPILS HEALTH EDUCATION(Department of Elementary School Teacher Education, Faculty of Teacher training and Education, The University of Kuningan, Indonesia., 2023) Ologele, I.The traditional method of teaching and learning dominate the method of learning that is prominent in Nigeria. The uses of technology for educational system enhance effective teaching learning activity. Therefore, the study investigates the effectiveness of slow-mation package and power point presentation on achievement of primary school pupils Health Education. A quasi-experimental of pre-test, post-test and control single groups design was used for the research. Sixty pupils from the two selected schools formed the sample for the study. The pupils assigned to both and were later tested with Ceramics Achievement Test for data collection. Mean and standard deviation used to test the research questions while t-test analysis used for the formulated hypotheses. A quasi-experimental design was used to determine differences in academic performance of male and female pupils as well as those in private and public school taught with slow-mation package and those taught with power point presentation. The results of the findings indicated that there was no significant difference between male and female students, there was no significant difference between private and public pupils taught with slow-mation package and those taught with power point presentation. As a result of the research, it was recommended that the State Ministry of Education should organise training for primary school teachers on the use of slow-motion and power point presentations which facilitate effective teaching and learning activity.Item Effects of Computer-Based Animation on Undergraduate Performance in First Aids Concept of Health Science.(Department of Science and Technology Education, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria, 2020) Ologele, I.; Odewunmi, M. However, despite its relevance and usefulness to learning, its integration to learning of health science by undergraduate have not been established. Therefore, this study examined the effectiveness of computer-based animation for learning of First aid. The study also investigated the influence of gender on the performance of the students. The quasi experimental of pre and post-test was used. The study used 200 level undergraduates of department of Health sciences from university of Ilorin. Students were divided into two groups of experimental and conventional based on their gender. The instruments were Computer-based Animation Package, First aid Test and guides. First aid test was trial tested with reliability of 0.73 with test-retest method using Pearson product moment correlation. Hypotheses were tested with ANCOVA and t-test analysis at 0.05 level of significance. Finding revealed that students exposed to CAP performed significantly and gender of students did not influence students performance. It recommended that lecturers of health sciences should use computer-based animation in their teaching.Item Factors Affecting Solid Waste Management among Residents in Ilorin South Local Government Area, Kwara State, Nigeria(Faculty of Education, Rivers State University, Nkpolu-Oroworukwo, Port Harcourt, Nigeria., 2023) Ologele, I.; Jidda, K. The population of the study comprises of all the residents of Ilorin South Local Government Area of Kwara State. The research design used for the study was a descriptive cross-sectional survey which involved the use of a multi-stage sampling technique to choose 200 respondents participated in the study through the use of a structured questionnaire. The reliability of the instrument for the study was established using test-retest method. The reliability coefficient of 0.84 was obtained using Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient. Frequency counts and the percentage were used to analyse demographic data of the respondents while inferential statistics of chi-square was used to analyse the result of the stated hypotheses at 0.05 alpha level. The result of the findings revealed that inadequate funding. poverty and inadequate sanitation facilities contributed significantly to the problem of solid waste management in Ilorin South Local Government Area of Kwara State, Nigeria. The study recommends that Government and non-government organization should provide sanitation facilities to residents of Ilorin South Local Government to make it easy for them to manage their solid waste effectivelyItem Health Communication through Socio-Emotional Wellbeing as Predictor for Successful Healthcare Delivery among People in Oyo Town(Faculty of Social and Management Sciences, Lead City University, Ibadan, Nigeria., 2021) Ologele, I.; Ibrahim, A.; Ogunsola, M. T.The purpose of the study was to examine the degree to which health communication through socio-emotional wellbeing predicted successful healthcare delivery system. The variables used were social, emotional and socio-emotional well-being. The target population were people of Oyo town. Six hundred respondents were used as samples. Stratified random sampling technique was used for choosing respondents across different working groups who were beneficiaries of healthcare delivery and incidental random sampling procedure was used to select respondents participated in the study in order to make sure that all the target population has equal chance to participate in the study. Three null hypotheses were formulated and tested. The instrument used for data collection was the researchers' structured and developed questionnaire which was validated by three experts in the field of Physical and Health Education. Its reliability was established through test re-test method, using the Spearman-Brown rank order correlation which gave the coefficient of 0.83. The data collected were analysed using Pearson product-moment correlation. The three null-hypotheses were rejected. This implied that health communication through socio-emotional well-being predicted successful healthcare delivery among people in Oyo town. Recommendations made include that, health communicators should respect and recognise the opinions of the receivers through positive interpersonal relationship so that the message will be properly comprehended and acted upon accordingly; and try as much to put his or her anger under control, in order to attract the attention of the audience to the health message resented for meaningful interpretation and corresponding action.Item Knowledge of the Predisposing Factors of Ascariasis Disease among Public Primary School Teachers in Kwara State(Published by the Department of Health Promotion and Environmental Health Education, University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria., 2019) Ologele, I.; Bello, A.,; Jidda, K. B.Ascariasis (roundworm) is an important health issue that is affecting people mostly in less developed countries which It has been associated with causing stunting growth, body weakness, nutritional disturbances, morbidity, mortality and low educational achievement among school children and even in adults The objectives of the study were to investigate whether poor knowledge of personal hygiene and food hygiene were predisposing factors of ascariasis among public primary school teachers in Kwara State. The study adopted a descriptive research design of the survey type. The population of the study comprised of all the public primary school teachers in Kwara State (11.963) Multistage sampling techniques of cluster. proportionate, purposive proportionate, and simple random sampling techniques were used to select 470 public primary schools teachers in Kwara state as a sample for the study. The Research instrument adopted for the study was researchers structured questionnaire which had been validated by three experts in the Department of Health Promotion and Environmental Health Education. University of Ilorin to ensure both face and content validity. Reliability of the instrument used for the study was established through a split-half method. Twenty (20) copies of the questionnaire administered on twenty public primary school teachers outside the study area and their responses analysed using Cronbach alpha. The correlation coefficient of 0.71 r was obtained. The result of the reliability indicated that the instrument was reliable. The result of data collected analysed using frequency counts and percentages. The finding of the study revealed that primary school teachers in the study area know that poor personal hygiene and poor food hygiene are predisposing factors for ascariasis. it was recommended that the Kwara State Universal Basic Education (KWSUBE) should carry out an educative programme that will enlighten both primary school pupils and teachers on the need for them to always wash their hands with soap and water after visiting the toilet and before handling or eating food to protect them against ascariasis.Item Oil Spillage as one of the Contributory Factors for Health Problems among residents of Awoye Community, Ondo State(Department of Kniesiology, Health Education and Recreation, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Nigeria, 2019) Ologele, I.; Jidda, K. T.Dysmenorrrhea is one of the leading causes of school absenteeism among female undergraduates in University of Ilorin, Nigeria. Therefore, the study investigated the perceived risk factors of dysmenorrhea among female undergraduates in the University of Ilorin, Nigeria. Descriptive research design of survey type was used for the study. Population for this study comprised of female undergraduates in the University of Ilorin for 2018/2019 academic session. Multi-stage sampling technique of simple, proportionate, purposive and convenience sampling techniques were used to select 263 respondents that participated in the study. The researcher developed a questionnaire which was validated by 3 experts from the field of health educator and community medicine was used for the study. Degree of consistency of the instrument used for the study was confirmed through test-re-test approach and result of r = 0.82 obtained. Non-parametric statistics of Chi-square was used to test the hypotheses formulated for the study at 0.05 alpha level. The findings of the study indicated that stress and high intake of sugar were risk factors for dysmenorrhea among female undergraduates in the University of Ilorin (Chi- square value of 83.45, p = 0.000 with 9 df, (Chi- square value of 64.06, p = 0.001 with 9 df). The researchers concluded that the inability to manage stress among female undergraduates and high intake of foods containing excessive sugar were risk factors of dysmenorrhea among female undergraduates at the University of Ilorin. The researchers recommended that the school authority management should organize stress seminars and campaigns to help address stress problems experienced by female undergraduates in the University of Ilorin. Also, the university authority should organize enlightenment campaigns that will educate undergraduates on the risks involved in the consumption of unhealthy foods which contain excessive sugar such as biscuits or snacks to reduce pains experienced by female undergraduates in the University of Ilorin, during the menstrual period.Item PREDICTORS OF CHILD ABUSE IN SELECTED LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREAS OF LAGOS STATE NIGERIA(2022) Bello, M. B.It has been observed that a lot of Children are out of School in Nigeria as a result of Child abuse cause by cultural practices, Parent’s level of Education, Child Gender and single Parenthood. This study therefore, investigates the Cultural factors as predictors of Child abuse in selected Local Government Areas of Lagos State, Nigeria. The descriptive survey research was used for the study. Random sampling technique was used to select sixty Parents (60) from each of the 30 Local Government Areas selected in Lagos State, Nigeria. A self develop Questionnaire of 0.0671 reliability level was used for data collection. Three hypotheses were tested while Chi-Square statistics was used to test the hypotheses at P<0.05 alpha level. The findings revealed all the hypotheses were rejected meaning that Parents level of Education, single Parenthood and Child Gender are predictors of Child abuse in Lagos State, Nigeria. Based on these finding, recommendations were made on how Government at all levels should enact laws which will make Child abuse an illegal act, create more awareness through Television and Radio stations, Town criers etc on the risk of Child abuse and ways to prevent/control it.Item Psychosocial Factors Influencing Pupils Kidnapping as Perceived by Primary School Teachers.(Department of Elementary School Teacher Education, Faculty of Teacher training and Education, The University of Kuningan, Indonesia, 2022) Ologele, I.; Gbadeyanka, S. A.Nigeria currently has more than 10 million children out of school and the school attacks and kidnappings have only made the situation worse. The study investigated psychosocial factors influencing pupil kidnapping as perceived by primary school teachers. The study adopted a descriptive research design of survey type. The study population comprised all primary school teachers in the study area. Multi-stage sampling technique was used to choose one hundred and thirty-five respondents who participated in the study. A researcher-structured questionnaire which was validated and tested for reliability was adopted for the study. A coefficient of 0.87r was obtained using the test-retest method. The instrument was administered by the researchers and three trained research assistants. Inferential statistics of chi-square used to analyse the hypotheses postulated for this study at 0.05 alpha level. The findings of this study revealed that youth unemployment influenced pupils' kidnapping because the calculated chi-square value of 61.23 was greater than the table value of 16.92 @ 0.05 alpha level, and religious fanaticism influenced pupils' kidnapping because the calculated chi-square value of 57.34 was greater than the table value of 16.92 @ 0.05 alpha level. The study concluded that the high rate of youth unemployment in our society influences pupils' kidnapping and misinterpretation of statements in holy books mislead some people to engage in kidnapping activity. The researchers recommend among others that the government at all levels should create more job opportunities for the youths graduating from school to reduce the number of young people engage in kidnapping activities due to their inability to secure employment.Item Relationship Between Demographic Factors and Nutritional Problems of Elderly People in Ilorin South Local Government Area, Kwara State.(Published by the Department of Health Promotion and Environmental Health Education, University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria., 2015) Abdulraheem, A. A.The study examined the relationship between demographic factors and nutritional problems among elderly people in Ilorin South Local Government Area of Kwara State. The objective of the study was to investigate the relationship between gender, age, household composition and nutritional problems among elderly women in Ilorin South Local Government Area of Kwara State. A descriptive research design of survey type was adopted. The population for the study consisted all elderly people living in Ilorin South Local Government Area of Kwara State. A sample of two hundred (200) respondents was randomly selected using multistage sampling technique. Researchers' developed questionnaire which was validated by three experts in related fields and tested for reliability using split-half method was used for data collection. A reliability coefficient of 0.74r was obtained. Pearson Product Moment Correlation was used to analyze the hypotheses for the study at 0.05 alpha level of significance. The results revealed that age and gender had significant relationships with nutritional problems of elderly people in Ilorin South Local Government Area (.303r >195. .313r> 195) while household composition does not influence nutritional problems (089r<195) among elderly people in Ilorin South Local Government Area of Kwara State. The researchers concluded that age and gender have significant relationships with nutritional problems while household composition has not significant relationship with nutritional problems among elderly people in Ilorin South Local Government Area of Kwara State. J.; Onifade, O. A.; Ologele, I.This study investigated the socio-cultural factors influencing women’s participation in sports as perceived by female undergraduates in the University of Ilorin. Two hundred female undergraduate students residing in school halls of residence were involved in the study. These were selected using simple random sampling. A twenty-two item questionnaire based on socio-cultural factors influencing female participation in sports was administered to the respondents. The findings were that culture, family background, religion, peer grouping and gender influence females’ participation in sports. In view of this, it was recommended that government should encourage participation in sports by providing scholarship and other incentives to female athletes who excel in any sports competition while mass media should organize enlightenment programmes that will mitigate the socio-cultural factors hindering women’s involvement in sports.
