DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF INFORMATION RETRIEVAL SYSTEM FOR LABORATORY EQUIPMENTS
    (Published by Mathematics Association of Nigeria (MAN). Kwali, Abuja., 2016-09-22) Oladipo, I. D; Adewole, K. S.; Babatunde, A. O.; Abati, A. I.; Tomori, A. R.; Awotunde, J. B.
Getting information relating to user's search criteria on equipment within a University laboratory has posed many challenges since there is no specific system to serve this purpose. It is difficult to handle the whole system manually. The aim of this paper is therefore to design and implement a web-based information retrieval system for University Laboratory equipment. This system offers a powerful internet-based search engine for locating and identifying equipment within a University laboratory while eliminating all unrelated content that a general-purpose search engine would retrieve. The method used involved collecting information needed from the technologist on various equipment in the laboratory and inserted into the retrieval system using SQL server to make query on the database to manage the data and a PHP programming language was used as the server-side scripting language for establishing an efficient querying of information from the database. Java scripting was also used as client-side scripting language for the purpose of adding more interactions to the proposed system. The developed system having been evaluated and assessed thoroughly was found to be efficient, easy to use for locating laboratory equipment in a University.

Investigating the Feasibility of Introducing Computer Aided Instruction (CAI) Application in Distance Learning System in Nigeria
(Published by Mathematics Association of Nigeria (MAN). Kwali, Abuja., 2016-09-22) Oladipo, I. D; Tomori, A
This research examines the Feasibility of Computer Aided Instruction Application in Distance Learning System in Nigeria, using the National Teachers’ Institute (NTI) Kwara study center as a case study. Forty (40) N.C.E. students and ten (10) staff of the center were randomly sampled. A questionnaire was designed to collect data from the respondents. Simple percentage, Average Total Weighted Response (ATWR) and Chi-square test were used for data analysis. The research work finds out that the students are willingly interested in the use of computer-aided instruction material for learning, but the facilities such as computer laboratory, computer personnel, and other facilities are not readily available in the study center. It is therefore recommended that the government should provide facilities and equipment like computer laboratory, microcomputers, furniture, stabilizers or uninterruptable power supply (UPS) which are essential for the introduction of Computer Aided Instruction Application in Distance Learning System in Nigeria.

    University Lecture Time Table Automation
(Oduduwa Journal of Natural and Applied Science (OJNAS), Published by Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu, Ile-Ife, Osun State., 2015) Babatunde, A. O.; Oladipo, I. D
One of the most important activities of a University is organization of lecture for her students using lecture time table. However, the time tables that the Universities are using are manually done, which make the lecture timetable not be easily accessed, inaccurate, inconsistence, and time consuming in preparation. This study therefore carried out the automation of the University lecture time table with a view to getting a reliable, accurate, easily updated and easily accessed lecture time table. The method used involved interviewing the faculty sub-dean, the Head of various Departments in the faculty to get necessary relevant documents like the lecture venues, course lecturers, list of courses in the various Departments, population of students in each level and the duration of the lecture. An object programming language with a PHP was used to design the automated software. Comparative analysis was also made of the new automated system with the old manual method. Findings showed that the automated time table generated is error free, accurate and reliable and can also be used to generate future lecture time table.
