O.This study aimed at analyzing the ability level of students' in Senior Secondary School Certificate Economics Examination using Item Response Theory (IRT). Using descriptive survey type research design, two research questions and one hypothesis were generated for the study. The study population consists of all four thousand, seven hundred and thirty final year students of Senior Schools in Ogbomoso, Oyo State; out of which sample of one thousand and eighty students were selected using multi-stage sampling technique was drawn. The instruments used for data collection were WAEC, NECO and NABTEB multiple-choice Economics papers which are standardized tests that are presumed to be accurate, reliable and valid. The data collected were analysed using Cronbach 's Alpha method to ascertain the reliability of the test items to provide answers to research question one, descriptive statistics and WinGen IRT software package was used to provide answers to research question two, while the research hypothesis was tested using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) statistics. The result shows that all three exams were reliable; however, NECO had the highest reliability index of 0.69. Also, the result reveals that, on the average, the examinees were of medium ability, but in 2012 to 2014, the mean abilities in NECO were higher than in WAEC Economics items, while those of WAEC in the same years were higher than those of NABTEB except for 2015 and 2016 where the ability levels of students in NABTEB were found to be higher than that of WAEC even though that of NECO remained the highest of them all. Moreover, the estimates indicate that there is no significant difference in the ability levels of students in 2012 to 2106 in multiple-choice Economics items based on WAEC, NECO and NABTEB standardized examinations (p-values .85, 2.6, .14, .64, and .44). Recommendations were given in line with the obtained results.Item Assessment of the Sources and Use of Instructional Materials by Teachers in Primary Schools in Ilorin Metropolis(Nigerian Journal of Educational Foundation (Published by Faculty of Education, University of Ilorin), 2017) Oladele, Jumoke I.; Owolabi, Henry O..; Victor-Akinyemi, Helen; Onah, H. This study therefore centered on the sources from which teachers obtain the materials, its use as well as factors militating against their effective use. Impact of teachers' gender and years of teaching experience were also observed. The survey design was adopted, and two hundred teachers were sampled from primary schools in florin Metropolis of KwaraState. One hundred and eighty three validly completed questionnaires were analyzed; a return rate of 92%. Research ·questions were answered using descriptive statistics while hypotheses were tested with the t-tesl and ANOVA statistics and inferences madeat the 0.05 level of significance. The findings of the study revealed that teachers were open to sourcing instructional materials from within the school, government supply, community and philanthropic donations; however their level of use was low. It was further revealed that inadequate training and retraining of in-service teachers and poor maintenance of instructional materials were some of the problems faced by primary school teachers among others. Significant differences were found in the use of instructional materials on the basis of gender and years of teaching experience. It was thus recommended that all teachers should make the use of instructional materials a priority irrespective of gender and their carrier level while the government should put in place constant training and re-training ofi n-service teachers.Item Assessment of the Utilization of Information and Communication Technology in Literacy Centres in Ibadan North, Oyo State(Nigerian Journal of Educational Foundation, 2018) Olawuni, Abiodun O.; Oladele, Jumoke I.; Noibi, T.O.Item Chi-Square(Department of Social Sciences Education, Faculty of Education, University of Ilorin, 2015) Oladele, Jumoke I.Item Effect of Drug Abuse and Violence among the Adult Learners in Ilorin Metropolis(Published by Ife Centre for Psychological Studies/Services, 2019) Olawuni, Abiodun O.; Oladele, Jumoke I.Item Effect of Drug Abuse on Moral Behaviuor of Secondary School Students in Ilorin-South LGA, Kwara State(Journal of Educational Foundation and Development, 2018) Alabi, Jimoh A.; Oladele, Jumoke I.Item Effect of Drug Abuse on Moral Behaviuor of Secondary School Students in Ilorin-South LGA, Kwara State(Journal of Educational Foundation and Development (Published by Department of Educational Foundations, Faculty of Education, University of Benin), 2018) Alabi, Jimoh A.; Oladele, Jumoke I.Sales of Alcohol, Marijuana, Indian hemp and other dangerous herbs that can easily be purchased from unregistered drug vendors in the Community, especially in school surroundings, encourage drug abuse. Similarly, failure of Government to strictly enforce its existing laws against drug abuse through its regulatory agencies is also a contributory factor to youths getting involved in drug abuse, specifically Secondary School students who will be our future leaders. Thus, this study examined the effect of drug abuse on moral behaviour of Secondary School students in Ilorin-South Local Government Area of Kwara State. The simple random sampling technique was adopted to select 30 teachers and I50 students from the five selected public Secondary Schools in the Local Government Area as sample. The instrument used was the questionnaire while analysis of variance was employed to test the three hypotheses generated in this study. The findings revealed that there was significant relationship between the drug abuse and students' riot, bullying of fellow students and students' disobeying school authorities in Secondary Schools. Based on the findings, it is recommended that Government should prevent the cultivation or sales of Indian hemp, other dangerous herbs that encourage drug abuse and strictly enforce its existing laws against drug abuse through its regulatory agencies. Also, parents and guardians should endeavor to monitor their children so that they do not engage in drug abuse. Counseling education should be introduced in schools to prevent those who have already engaged in the act.Item Family Life Education for Improved Quality of Life in Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State(Association of Educational Research and Evaluation of Nigeria, 2020) Oladele, Jumoke I.; Iyekolo, Olushola A.; Victor-Akinyemi, Helen B.; Alabi, Jimoh A.; Okoji, Olufemi O.Item Genralisability and Dependability of Students’ Work Experience Programme Assessment for Quality University Engineering Graduates in North-Central Nigeria(Association of Educational Research and Evaluation of Nigeria, 2020) Oladele, Jumoke I.; Owolabi, Henry O.; O ’Connor, Brian P.Item Impact of Environmental Education on Sustainable Community Development Goals(Ilorin Journal of Education, 2019) Olawuni, Abiodun O.; Oladele, Jumoke I.Item IMPACT OF INNOVATIVE TEACHING PRACTICES ON THE ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS IN ECONOMICS IN ILORIN METROPOLIS(Association of Educational Reserach and Evaluation of Nigeria (Journal of Educational Research and Development), 2019) Oladele, Jumoke I.; Akano, Olufemi T.; Joseph, M. The reliability of the instrument was established using the measures of internal consistency (Cronbach’s alpha with reliability indices of 0.94 and 0.91 for Sections C and D sub-scales). Data was analyzed using descriptive statistics. Findings from this revealed a dart of online teaching and assessment tools for university lecturers who were faced with a myriad of challenges with using the existing ones and have a dear need for training for optimal performance with online teaching.
