Item An investigation of primary school male teachers' job satisfaction in Ogbomosho North, Oyo State(International Journal of Contemporary Issues in Education (Special Edition, Vol.3) 2018, 2018) Ola-Alani, Eniola Keji (Ph.D)The sampled population for this study comprised of20 public primary schools in the local government area. While the sampling technique was simple random sampling, selecting hundred (100) teachers serving as the respondents. The instrument used for data collection was a self-designed questionnaire. Frequency counts and percentage were used to describe demographic data of sampled respondents, mean and standard deviation were used to answer the research questions. While the corresponding hypotheses were tested using ANOVA at 0.05 level of significance. The findings revealed that male teachers are not satisfied with their job and that while working experience and differentiate male teachers' job satisfaction. Based on the findings, it was recommended teachers' welfare package and ensure prompt payment of allowances to improve their standard of living thereby motivating them for job satisfaction. In addition, school managements should avoid work overload on few male teachers, as this could result in job stress and male teachers should take pleasure in teaching as a profession in order to put in their bestItem ATTITUDES TOWARDS VIRTUAL LEARNING AMONG CHILDHOOD EDUCATION UNDERGRADUATES IN KWARA STATE(Al-Lisan International Journal for Linguistics & Literary Studies, 2024) Ola-Alani, Eniola Keji (Ph.D); Ojo. Oludare David (Ph.D); ODEBOWALE Ireti TinaVirtual learning is a learning mode that is an alternative to the conventional way of learning. Specifically, in Nigeria, the learning process used to be principally carved around the face-to-face interactions between the lecturers and the learners; however, the outbreak of COVID-19 altered the narrative whereby significant numbers of universities in the country are now practising virtual learning. Against this background, the study investigated attitudes towards virtual learning among childhood education undergraduates in Kwara state. A descriptive research design of survey type was adopted in this study with a population of 911 childhood education undergraduates, out of which a multistage sampling technique was employed to select 455 undergraduates from the population as respondents for the study. A researcher- deigned questionnaire was used for data collection. The questionnaire had a reliability score of α=0.75. The data collected were subjected to descriptive and inferential statistical analysis of frequency, percentage, range, and independent t-tests. The study's findings revealed that childhood education undergraduates in Kwara state have positive attitudes toward virtual learning, and there is no significant difference in the attitudes toward virtual learning among childhood education undergraduates based on school proprietorship. The conclusion was raised that education stakeholders in Nigeria should see virtual learning as the future of the country's education system, and the recommendation was put forward that undergraduates should do more to ensure optimal benefits from the learning mode.Item Benefits of Moonlight Play on the Academic Development of Pupils in Irepodun Local Government, Osun State(Fafunwa Journal of Contemporary Education (FAJOCE): A Journal of Studies in Education, 2019) Ola-Alani, Eniola Keji (Ph.D)This study centered on the influence of moonlight play on pupils 'cognitive development in Irepodun Local Government Area of Osun State. The targeted populations are the pupils in the primary schools within the study area. Five (5) middle schools were selected and twenty (20) pupils were randomly selected from each school to make a total of 100 samples for this study. The questionnaire was divided into two sections, section A comprises respondents' demographic data. Section B comprises items on the influence of moonlight play on pupils' cognitive development. Frequency counts and percentages, mean and standard deviation were used to analyse the demographic data and research questions respectively. Independent t-test was used to test the hypotheses generated. The findings show that moonlight play bas positive influence on the cognitive development of pupils' in Irepodun Local Government Area of Osun State, pupils' cognitive development is influenced by moonlight play based on school type,(p-value <0.05;p=0.000)and there is no significant difference in the influence of moonlight play on pupils' cognitive development based on gender (p-value>0.05;p 0.493). It was recommended that, awareness campaign in promoting the use of folklore and folktales should be made to all primary school teachers and Osun State Universal Basic Education Board (OSUBEB) should make it compulsory that every Yoruba language teacher in primary school bas adequate knowledge of folktales and folklore. Possession of such knowledge could be used as one of the requirements for employment and promotion.Item Effectiveness of indigenous education on oral development of pre-school child in Osogbo Local Government Area of Osun State(Eko Journal of Educational Research (EKOJER), 2019) Ola-Alani, Eniola Keji (Ph.D)This study centered on the effectiveness of indigenous education on the oral development of populations were the parents and teachers in the study area. With the aid of two questionnaires two hundred samples (100 parents and 100 teachers) were randomly selected. Two questionnaires were esigned for the study (One for the teachers and the other for the parents). Each of the questionnaires was divided into two sections, section A focused on demographic data while section B comprised of separate items for each of the stakeholders. Frequency counts and percentage distribution were used to analyze the demographic data while mean, standard deviation, t-test and ANOVA were used to test the research questions and hypothesis generated respectively. The findings show that,indigenous education is very effective in the child oral development (2.69 > 2.50), there is no significant difference in the parents' responses on the effectiveness of indigenous education to the child oral development based on their gender(P=0.450>0.05), there is significant difference in the parents' response on the effectiveness of indigenous education to the child oral development based on their ag?(P=0.002<0.05). Research should be encouraged on Indigenous early childhood education so that some Nigerian cultural heritage and values would not go extinct and indigenous toys, games, songs and the normal toys for early childhood education should be incorporated into childhood curriculum to enable children have analytical mind, think outside the box and to enhance their oral development.Item Influence of COVID-19 Pandemic on Academic Adjustment of Lower Basic Pupils in Irepodun Local Government Area,Kwara(Bayero Journal of Education in Africa, 2023) Ola-Alani, Eniola Keji (Ph.D)The culture of a school sets the tone for how the mission of that school will be accomplished.Against the background, this study examined the impact of COVID-19 Pandemic on academic adjustment of lower basic pupils in Irepodun LGA, Kwara state.A descriptive research design of correlational type was used to carry out the study. The population of the study comprised of all primary school teachers in the local government, the target population of the study was all the public primary school teachers in the local government area, while a sample of one hundred (100)teachers were selected from the target population using a simple random sampling technique.The instrument for data collection was a researcher-designed questionnaire. Findings showed that the majority of the respondents indicated a positive impact of COVID. 19 Pandemic on academic adjustment of lower basic pupils in Irepodun LGA, Kwara state. There is no significant difference in the check of the COVID-19 Pandemic on the academic adjustment of lower basic pupils in Irepodun LGA, Kwara state based on gender. There is a significant difference in the impact of COVID. 19 Pandemic on academic adjustment of lower basic pupils in Irepodun LGA, Kwara state based on qualification. Recommendations were made that parents should do more to ensure that the pupils have access to sound education; government should ensure that the pupils are provided with possible learning materials that could enhance their learning; and Non-Governmental Organisation should endeavour to see to the education of the pupils with special needs, and not focus on the other pupils only.Item INFLUENCE OF GENDER AND SCHOOL TYPE ON DRUG ABUSE BEHAVIOUR AMONG MIDDLE BASIC PUPILS IN ILORIN WEST, KWARA STATE(GAMBIA JOURNAL OF EDUCATIONAL RESEARCH (GAMJER), 2022) Ola-Alani, Eniola Keji (Ph.D); Komolafe, Adefunke Titilayo (Ph.D)Drug abuse has been a concern for researchers due to its harmful effect, and a lot of factors have been attributed as a cause to it. Against this background, this study investigated the influence of gender and school type on drug abuse behaviour among middle basic pupils in Ilorin west, Kwara state. Descriptive survey research design was adopted in the study. The population for the study comprised all the public and private primary schools in Ilorin west, while the target population of the study consisted of all the basic 4-6 public and private primary school pupils in Ilorin west. Simple random sampling technique was employed to select 200 pupils from the target population as the respondents of the study. A researcher-designed questionnaire was used for data collection. The data gathered were analysed using frequency, percentage, mean, independent t-test. Findings of the study revealed that the level of middle basic pupils' involvement in drug abuse is low, there is no significant difference in the level of drug abuse behaviour among middle basic pupils based on gender and school type. Recommendations were raised based on the findings of the study that parents should be very watchful of what they do in the presence of their children; school management should ensure adequate sensitization of the pupils regarding the danger associated with drug abuse; and government should ensure that the school environment is not a such that nurtures bad behaviour.Item Influence of songs on middle basic learners’ retention level in Ilorin West L.G.A(Ibadan Journal of Child Development and Educational Foundations, 2022) Ola-Alani, Eniola Keji (Ph.D)Song is a short metrical composition intended or adapted for singing,especiallyone in rhymed stanzas; a lyric; a ballad. Songs are usually short piece of music with words or lyrics. Songs have a positive influence on vocabulary retention of young learners.It gives students a chance to reduce the information into parts yet work with it as a whole. Against this background, this study investigated the influence of songs on middle basic learners'retentionlevel in Ilorin west local government area, Kwara state. The population for this study consisted of all the middle basic school pupils in Kwara State.The target population comprised all the middle basic pupils in Ilorin west Local Government Area of Kwara state, Nigeria. Simple random sampling technique was used to select two hundred and fifty (250) pupils as the respondents of the study. The research instrument for the study was a researcher-designed questionnaire (ISMBLRL). Findings of the study revealed that songs as teaching technique have positive influence on the retention level of the one hundred and fifty pupils.Also, gender and age of the pupils tend to pose significant difference in the influence of songs on the retention level of the pupils. Conclusively,songs have positive influence on the retention level of the pupils if it is used appropriately. Also,the gender and age ofthe pupils have significant difference in the influence ofsongs on the retention level of the pupils. Recommendations were raised that teachers should make use of songs as teaching techniques; parents should support teachers'efforts towards enhancing the retention level of the pupils through songs;government should provide enabling environment where the techniques could be effectively and efficiently utilizedby the teachers.Item Management supervision styles and the effectiveness of Social Studies teachers in Ilorin West Local Government Area, Kwara State(Lagos Education Review: A Journal of Studies in Education, 2020) Ola-Alani, Eniola Keji (Ph.D); Atanda, Muritala RidwanThis study examined the extent to which management supervision styles affect Social Studies' teacher effectiveness in the classroom. The targeted populations are the junior secondary school teachers and students in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State, Nigeria. A descriptive survey design was adopted and a total of 125 respondents were sampled using a simple random sampling technique. The sample comprises of 75 teachers and 50 students from 10 schools in the study area. A questionnaire was used as the data collection instrument and was analyzed with frequency counts and percentages. The finding shows that the democratic supervision style is the prominent management supervision style used among the school heads. The sampled population for this study comprised of five upper basic schools within the local government area, while the sampling technique was simple random sampling, selecting two hundred (200)respondents, forty each from each school. The instrument used for data collection was a self-designed questionnaire and a pro forma. Frequency counts and percentage were used to describe the demographic data of sampled respondents, mean and standard deviation for analyzing the generated research questions, and multiple regression analysis for answering the postulated hypothesis. The findings showed that learning outcome of upper basic school pupils in Osogbo Local Government Area of Osun State was average with a mean score of 58.6%; public primary school environment in Osogbo Local Government,Osun State was favourable (55.5%);the predominant school environment in Osogbo Local Government, Osun State was staff-students relationship and classroom experience; and there was no significant relationship between school environment and learning outcome of upper basic schools outcome in Osogbo Local Government, Osun State. Recommendations were made that school staff should develop with the pupils a good interaction which is helpful in promoting pupils' learning outcome; a well-programmed learning and teaching environment which is conducive enough to achieve effective teaching and learning should be established; well trained and qualified teachers should be employed for teaching in upper basic schools; and schools should be situated ina friendly environment where teaching and learning could take place successfully.Item Teachers’ advocacy for reinstating pre-school unit in Osun State public primary school(Maiduguri Journal of Educational Studies, 2017) Ola-Alani, Eniola Keji (Ph.D); Odebowale, Iretilola TinaThe study is a survey research of teacher's advocacy for reinstating pre-school units in public primary schools in Osun State. A sampled of 500 respondents were drawn purposively from ten schools in each of ten local government areas of the State. Five teachers were interviewed from each school. A validated researcher designed questionnaire with reliability co-efficient of 0.83 was used for data collection. The findings of the study showed that teachers have very positive perception of rationale for reinstating pre-school units in public primary schools. They affirmed the potentials of pre-school education as the foundation for other levels of education; for molding and preparing children positively for the betterment of self and society; improving their performance, developing and stabilizing their emotional and social adjustment in order to participate and relate positively with their mates at school and ultimately in life. It is recommended that pre-school units should be re-introduced in the primary school, and adequate funded and well staff with professional teachers, considering UNESCO 26% budget allocation to education, greater participation of stakeholders and provision of adequate and well trained teaching and non-teaching staffItem The challenges encountered in establishing nursery school in an upcoming community: A study of Osogbo Local Government Area of Osun State(NOUN Journal of Education (NJE), 2022) Ola-Alani, Eniola Keji (Ph.D)This study investigated challenges encountered in establishing nursery school in an upcoming community with reference to a study of Osogbo Local Government Area of Osun State. The main purpose of this study is to investigate if government policies, lack of qualified personnel,financial constraint and poor pupils' enrollment are challenges in the establishment of nursery school in Osogbo. The study is a descriptive. Stratified sampling technique was used to select a sample size of 200 for this study. The sample for the study comprised two hundred (200)priate school teachers and proprietors, ten (10) schools were selected randomly. The instrument used for data collection in this study was a self-designed questionnaire.Descriptive statistics of frequency counts and percentages were used to analyze the demographic data of the respondents, while weighted mean score was used to answer the four research questions raised in this study. Findings of the study revealed that government policies, lack of qualify personnel, financial constraints and poor pupil's enrollment are some of the challenges confronting the establishment of nursery schools in Osogbo Local Government Area of Osun State. The study concluded and recommended that Government should make education at pre-primary level free and compulsory. Government should provide adequate learning materials needed by the pupils from poor socio-economic background so that they can have equal educational opportunity with children from wealthy background. Stake holders should make sure that only qualified teachers are employed to teach in pre-primary schools, and also carry out routine inspection and supervision to ensure the stated objectives are met.
