This study therefore examines lecturers' perception about distributed leadership in public universities in Nigeria. A quantitative research design was employed to collect data from lecturers in public universities in North-central geopolitical zone of Nigeria. A total of 160 questionnaires were distributed and only 101 were usable for data analysis. SPSS version 20 was used for data analysis. The findings of the study revealed that distributed leadership was not adequately practiced in the sampled universities. However, the result of the t-test analysis shows that there is no significant difference in the lecturers perception about distributed leadership based on the school type and their gender. Therefore, it is suggested that the university management should improve their effort towards distributed leadership.Item Public-private partnership and infrastructural development in Nigerian universities(College of Education, North University of Texas, 2014) Oduwaiye, Rhoda Olape; Sofoluwe, A. O.; Bello, T. O.; Durosaro, I. A.This study investigated the degree to which Public-Private Partnership (PPP) services are related to infrastructural development in Nigerian Universities. The research design used was descriptive survey method. The population for the study encompassed all the 20 universities in South-west Nigeria. Stratified random sampling was used to select 12 universities comprising of Federal, State and Private universities in the south-west geopolitical zones in Nigeria. Simple random sampling techniques were used to select 2,500 participants. The findings of the study revealed a significant relationship between PPP and the provision of infrastructure (0.024) with df (1: 2498) and p< 0.05). There was also a significant relationship between PPP and maintenance of infrastructure (0.026) with df (1: 2498) and p< 0.05). The implication of these findings is that university goal achievement cannot be determined with only PPP and provision of infrastructure but may also be determined by the extent to which these facilities are adequately provided. Based on the findings of the study, it was recommended among others that competent units be established in every university to monitor construction, standard and maintenance of all infrastructure. Plus public enlightenment programs to encourage community participation in the development of infrastructures in the universities.Item Quality Academic Process: A Panacea for Student Development in University Education(Department of Quantitative Methods, School of Business and Economics (SBE), University of Management and Technology (UMT), 2018-02) Kayode, David Jimoh; Oduwaiye, Rhoda Olape; Etejere, Patricia A. In many Northern States of Nigeria, the combined impact of gender relations and some misinterpretation of Islam are constraining girl’s access to basic education services. For this reason, this paper examined the role of School-Based Management Committee in improving girl-child participation in basic education in North West states, Nigeria. In doing this, the paper discussed the concepts of girl-child, basic education and school based management. The disparity in basic education between the North and the South which is historical was also briefly discussed. Gender imbalance in education in Nigeria, particularly in North Western state that seems to be distorting the on-going basic education reforms in Nigeria was discussed. The paper examined several factors that differentially influence female access to basic education particularly in Northern Nigeria. The challenges identified in this paper which affect SBMCs’ performance in improving girls’ participation in basic education include community believes on girls’ status, poor implementation of laws protecting the right of a child, the school organizational pattern, school location and early marriage. The paper recommended among other things that the SBMC should facilitate the implementation of Child Right Act in all the North Western states and that rewards for excellent performance by girls in basic education should be encouraged.Item School Population and Teachers’ Effectiveness in Kwara State Basic Schools, Nigeria(Department of Elementary Education, Institute of Education and Research, University of the Punjab, Pakistan., 2017) Oduwaiye, Rhoda Olape; Sofoluwe, A.
