Item Application of Cloud Computing to Academic Library Services in Kwara State(International Journal of Knowledge Processing Studies, 2022-27) Akanbi Lawal Muhammad; Kabir Alabi Sulaiman; Abubakar Hajarat Olusegun; Christaina Oluwatoyin; Nuhu SilifatPurpose: This study examines the application of cloud computing to academic library services in Kwara state. Method: The population of the study includes library staff of the University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Kwara state university, Malate and Landmark University, Omu-Aran, Kwara State. Meanwhile, the University of Ilorin has a population of 57, Kwara state university 24, and Landmark University, Omu-Aran has 19 given 100 library staff. The research design adopted was a descriptive survey. The total enumerative sampling technique was adopted for the limited population. A researcher-designed questionnaire was used for data collection and descriptive statistic of table count and frequency was used as data analysis. Findings: The study found out that infrastructure as a service, software as a service, and recovery as a service is the type of cloud models adopted by academic libraries in Kwara state The finding of the study also indicated that google cloud, Alexandria, Duraspace, OCLC are the major vendors of cloud computing. It was also revealed that cloud computing applications to various library services like document download service; document sharing; digital preservation and scanning, social interaction were all done using the cloud. Conclusion: Finally, findings of the research revealed that cloud management, budget constraints, hardware and software, technical skills required for maintenance, connectivity, and dependency on the cloud are the challenges that are facing cloud computing.Item Assessment of ICT Utilisation Among Legal Practitioners in Kwara State(Ilorin Varsity International Journal of Library & Information Science, 2022) Yahaya Ibrahim Olarewanju; Aliyu Mamud; Abdullahi Mohammad Ibrahim; Nuhu SilifatAbstract This study examines the utilization of ICTs among legal practitioners in Kwara State. The study adopted a descriptive survey design, the population of the study was 772 consisting of all the registered legal practitioners in the Ilorin and Offa branches of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA). Total enumeration was adopted and a stratified sampling technique was applied. The study used a questionnaire as a data collection instrument and the data collected were analyzed. The study found out the available ICT resources include mobile phones, laptops, desktops, scanners, electronic court records, Internet and CD-Rom, which legal practitioners use on daily bases purposely to further knowledge on legal issues, for the work in progress and to defend their client in the court of law. The study also reported that revamping the nature of ICT resources, poor internet facilities, and epileptic power supply are some of the challenges that legal practitioners encountered while using ICT resources. The study concludes that ICT utilization is ponderous in the legal profession. Among the recommendations given is that a standby generator/inverter should be provided to curb the issue of power failure.
