The research question was answered using frequencies and percentage and the hypothesis was tested using chi-square statistics at 0.5 level of significance. Results of the study indicated that considerable proportion of teachers (54.4%) identified the factors studied as barriers to effective teaching of PE. There was no significant difference found in the barriers to effective teaching of PE based on gender, educational qualification and teaching experience, while there was a significant difference on barriers based on school types. Based on the findings recommendations to provide adequate and up-to-date equipment and facilities readily available to PE teachers among others were made.
