Item Assessment of the marital conflicts resolution services of the ministry of women affairs, ilorin, kwara state(Department of Sociology and Anthropology, Niger Delta, 2021-06) Abdulhameed A.; Yusuf, M.S; Kelani, K.A; Mohammed, A.H; Arinde-Simeon, T.O; Atiku, A.AThis study assessed the marital conflict resolution services of the Ministry of Women Affairs, Ilorin, Kwara State, to appraise the extent and level of effectiveness of services to the clients ’/service users’ of the Ministry. The study adopted a correlational survey research design. The purposive sampling technique was used to select 334 research participants, but 310 questionnaires were recovered from the participants. A self-structured questionnaire titled “Marital Conflicts Resolution Services Questionnaire” (MCRSQ) was used for gathering data for the study. Three hypotheses were tested using Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient (PPMCC) statistics with a pre-set alpha of 0.05 level of significance. The findings revealed a significant relationship between marital conflict resolution strategies and the level/extent of effectiveness of resolution services, and there is a significant relationship between marital conflict resolution strategies and marital quality. However, the third hypothesis was accepted based on the result that there is no significant relationship between marital conflict resolution strategies and utilization of services of the Ministry. Based on the findings of the study, it recommended that government should employ more qualified and competent staff to enhance effective marital resolution services of the Ministry; the welfare of the staff of the Ministry should be improved in order to enhance effective service provision to service users, and the Ministry should intensify efforts to adopt the new best practices in the service provided to the clients.Item Factors influencing sexting behaviour among undergraduate students in university of Ilorin, Nigeria(Department of Social Work, University of Benin., 2020-10) Kelani, K.A; Mohammed, A.H; Abdulhameed, A; Atiku, A.A.t is becoming a common practice among the youths to engage in sexting. The social phenomenon of sexting is deleterious, not only to those engaging in the malaise, but also to the society at large. This study adopts a survey method to investigate the factors that predispose undergraduate students to sexting. Using stratified sampling technique, a total of 385 sample size was selected from the University of Ilorin undergraduate population. Questionnaire as the instrument used was tested for validity and reliability using the face and content validity and internal consistency reliability, respectively. Hypothesis testing was conducted using the t-test and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), while frequency counts were used to analyse the demographic data. Based on the theory of planned behaviour (TPD), the study found that factors including gender, sexual orientation, and age of the undergraduate students do contribute to the social phenomenon of sexting. Recommendations were made that there should be an intensive sensitization against sexting for the young adults and their parents. School social work should be strengthened and social workers should be trained on social interventions to adopt in helping the youths involved in this act.
