    ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AS AN EMERGING TECHNOLOGY FOR ADVANCING ADULT LITERACY EDUCATION IN NIGERIA

    Literacy is a fundamental human right and a prerequisite for lifelong learning, social inclusion, and economic empowerment and adult literacy refers to organized learning opportunities designed to help adults acquire, improve, or update their reading, writing, numeracy, and digital literacy skills. Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become a transformative force in contemporary society, significantly influencing the livelihood status of adults across economic, social, and professional through flexibility learning design. The emergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) presents unprecedented opportunities to transform adult literacy education. AI-powered systems can deliver personalized, inclusive, and flexible learning solutions tailored to the unique needs of adult learners. This paper explores the potential of harnessing Artificial Intelligence as an enabling technology to address this imperative, examined their applications in enhancing learning experiences for the demands of the digital economy. Through a comprehensive and synthesizing literature review, this paper delineates the multifaceted landscape of AI-powered tools in the Nigerian Adult and literacy education context. It also discusses challenges and prospects of AI integration in adult literacy education in Nigeria. Conclusions were drawn based on the discussion and necessary recommendations for improvement provided.

    Assessing the Implementation of Nomadic Education Curriculum in?Nomadic Education centresin Kwara State, Nigeria

    This paper examined the implementation of nomadic education curriculum in nomadic education centres in Kwara State, Nigeria. The nomadic education programme was established to extend educational opportunities to nomadic learners of mobile populations, its impact has been hindered. The paper argues that the implementation of the curriculum remains largely ineffective due to inadequate teaching and learning resources, insufficiently trained facilitators, low learners participation, weak communities participation and poor alignment of curriculum content with the cultural and economic realities of nomadic communities. Evidence suggests that these challenges continue to hinder the goal of inclusiveness and educational qualities. The paper therefore, takes the position that unless urgent reforms are made such as improving facilitators participation, redesigning curriculum content to reflect nomadic livelihood and increasing government and stakeholders support, nomadic education programme will remain unable to achieve the intended objectives. Recommendations were provided to strengthen implementation strategies and provide sustainable educational outcomes for nomadic education in Kwara State, Nigeria.

    Assessment of Implementation of Literacy and Numeracy Activities in Quranic Integrated Schools in Kwara State, Nigeria.

    This paper examined the Implementation level of literacy and numeracy activity in integrated Quranic activities in non-former settings in Kwara State. The researchers used a descriptive approach for the study. The population for the study comprised of 964 respondents drawn from Teacher Development team and facilitators across nine (9). local Government Areas in Kwara State. The sample size of the study consisted of 146 using the 95% coefficient and 5.0% margin arrow. The sample size is TDts, Tfs and Facilitators were proportionally selected based on the cluster sampling technique. The instrument used in eliciting information was self-structured Questionnaire with 15 items. Four likert point and mean were used for decision of either accepting or rejecting the decision, and a mean of 2.50 was accepted, while items below 2.50 were rejected. The findings reveals that the implementation level of literacy and numeracy activities on Quranic integration has impacted positively to the understanding of non-literate learners of the quranic schools in the State, while some challenges were also encounter such as no-budgetary allocation for the sustainability of the programme by the Kwara State government. No regular payment of allowances to facilitators among others such as State Agency, ministry of education should collaborate with the State Government to support SAME for the sustainability of the programme, adequate resources, facilitators allowances should be paid as at when due and there should be proper monitoring/supervision for effective teaching and learning.

    Assessment of Resource Utilization and Entrepreurial Skill Development in A Kwoledge Economic Society

    The purpose of acquiring entrepreneurial skills is to secure a living or self-reliance using creative talents to establish a venture that will ensure and sustain growth of wealth in Acknowledge economy society. Therefore, universities have to adapt to the requirements imposed by the knowledge economy and to change their teaching process based on knowledge transfer into developing students' skills which will allow them to perform in a turbulent business environment. The focus on resources utilization and entrepreneurial skills development in a knowledge economy society. The research was guided by four research questions. The instrument designed to collect data was the structured questionnaire which was designed by the researcher and has only one section which was designed to elicit information that is related to the research questions. The title of the questionnaire is 'Resource Utilization and Entrepreneurial Skill Development in Knowledge Economy Society' The mean and standard Deviation and the benchmark to accept or disagree an item is 3.00. The target population consists of four hundred (400) respondents. The instrument was subjected to face validation by the two experts from Department of Adult Education. The result from the study shown a significant relationship between resources utilization and all the four variables of entrepreneurial skills development(business startup skills adaptation ) considered in this study. based on the Findings, the following recommendations that emphasise on wealth creation, poverty reduction and youths self-empowerment, the federal government should provide the enabling environment that that will promote entrepreneurship by providing sufficient resources for learning in all levels of tertiary education. Secondly, students' should be encouraged to have interest in entrepreneurship education through enlightenment on career prospects and opportunities in general and many more.

    Assessment of the Challenges Facing the Implementation of Nomadic Education Programme in Kwara State, Nigeria

    The study investigated the challenges facing the implementation of Nomadic education programme in Kwara State,Nigeria. This was with the view to providing information on what the nomadic education has contributed to sustainable development in Kwara State, Nigeria. A descriptive research design was adopted for the study. The population for the study consisted of 1,680 adult education learners and 101 adult education facilitators (as of 2024) in Kwara State. The sample for the study comprised a selection of 378 nomadic education learners and 54 adult education facilitators from 18 nomadic education centres using a multistage sampling technique. Two research instruments were used to collect information from the respondents: the learners' Questionnaire (LQ) and the Interview Guide (IG). The (LQ) with a reliability Coefficient of 0.85 was used to elicit information from learners while the (IG) was used to elicit information from the facilitators. One object , one research question and one hypothesis were formulated to guide the study. Literature was reviewed under the conceptual framework and theoretical and empirical review. (x̅= 2.73±0.76) across the educational centres. Furthermore, availability of educational infrastructure (F= 87.325; p= 0.000), curricula implementation (F= 36.900; p= 0.000), availability of trained facilitators (F= 26.822; p= 0.000), and constraints to nomadic education (F= 83.212; p= 0.000) significantly influenced nomads’ participation in nomadic educational programmes in the study area. Also, participation in nomadic education significantly influenced. It was therefore recommended that the government should provide incentives that would encourage and motivate nomads to enrol and actively participate in nomadic education.

    Assessment of the factors influencing the use of computer by adult education facilitators in some selected adult education centres in Kwara State

    This paper investigated the various factors affecting the use of computers by adult education facilitators in various centers across Kwara State, Nigeria. The objective of the study were to examines thefactors influencing the use of computers by adult education facilitators, also to examine the perceptions of adult education facilitators towards the integration of technology into instructional practices and investigate the challenges encountered by adult education facilitators in using computers for instructional purposes in adult education centers in Kwara State. A descriptive research design was adopted for the study. Population for the study consists of all the adult education facilitators in Kwara State. There were Two hundred and Fifty facilitators (250) in Kwara State. The sample size for the study consists of One hundred (100) respondents was randomly selected across the adult education centres in Kwara State. Data were collected through survey and interview with facilitators, providing insights into their experiences and challenges with technology integration. The findings reveal that the availability and quality of infrastructure, such as reliable internet access and up-to-date hardware, are critical for effective computer usage. Additionally, facilitators who adopt learner-centered pedagogical approaches and incorporate interactive activities tend to utilize computers more effectively. Facilitators attitude towards technology significantly influence its adoption, with positive attitude correlating with higher usage rates. Supportive policy frameworks and continuous professional development are also essential for fostering technology integration. However, the study highlights several limitations, including geographic constraints, potential biases in self-reported data, and a lack of longitudinal analysis. Future research should consider these limitations and explore additional perspectives. The study concludes that a holistic approach, addressing infrastructure, pedagogical practices, facilitator attitudes, policy support, and ongoing training, is necessary for successful computer integration in adult education. By implementing these recommendations, adult education centers in Kwara State can enhance educational experiences and outcomes for both facilitators and learners.

    Empowerment and Development Strategies for the Attainment of Millennium Development Goals in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State.

    This paper is on local empowerment development strategies for the attainment of MDGs in Ilorin West Local Government Area. The aim is to provide a formidable basis needed for adopting meaningful policy measures geared towards the empowerment of communities and development strategies for attaining the MDGs. The paper addressed the following issues among which are empowerment and development, the millennium development goals in perspectives, development strategies in empowering the community for the achievement of the MDGs and the challenges faced with its attainment. The paper concludes with the fact that empowerment of communities are needed to achieve the MDGs. Based on this, recommendations made were intensive awareness campaign for the people of the rural areas in Ilorin West Local Government the need for collaborative efforts between the government and community based association and extension of MDG programmes to the identified areas by the government.

    Management ensure a well-coordinated efforts aimed at ensuring effectiveness of the literacy education to serve the marginalized groups. thus, this paper focus attention on the strategies in ensuring effective management of literacy education on marginalized groups in rural communities of kwara State, Nigeria. It looks into the concept of accepted that effective management of literacy education could enhance individual marginalized group abilities to cope with the evolving Challenges they experience and and enhance their chances in the society where they belongs. Hence, education has to be redefined in the context of marginalized individual to make it responsive to their yearning for a better living conditions. The paper takes a review of marginalized groups features and status, certain strategies to address literacy education among the marginalized groups, were discussed. against this premise, conclusions were drawn and some recommendations were made to include the need for the expand learning programmes to nooks and corners of the federation and the learning centres must be placed close to learners residence so as to encourage regular participation by all. also, Government at all levels in Nigeria should develop and implement interventions such as subsidies for direct educational costs and greater cultural sensitization to the educationally marginalized groups. Also, appropriate national government policy and political will are necessary preconditions to expanding access to educationally marginalized populations.

    Impact of Vigilante Service Group on Crime Control for Sustainable Development in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State, Nigeria

    This study assesses the impact of vigilante service group on crime control for sustainable development in Ilorin West Local Government, Kwara State. The Population of the study comprised of all community members and vigilante in Ilorin West Local Government. The sample for this study comprised of 120 respondents selected through a dip-hat sampling technique. Descriptive survey design was employed in the study and a questionnaire titled "Impact of Vigilante Service Group on Crime Control for Sustainable Development Questionnaire (IVESGCCSDQ)" with a reliability of 1.9. Four research questions were raised and answered using mean and standard deviation. The results shows that crime constitutes to social problem in the aspect that crime has led to disruption of business activities and crime has led some to marriage divorce in Ilorin West local government area. The following recommendations were suggested: that government should encourage the vigilante group service by allocating adequate fund to execute their duties couple with the provision of ammunitions to protect the populace of a community. The community members should not obstruct the vigilante group during the course of executing their duties in the community like controlling crime.

    This paper examines community development in Nigeria with emphasis on the institution, agencies, policies and strategies employed to bring about the much needed community development in the country. In the attempt to do this , clarification of concepts like community, community development was carried out, which formed the theoretical basis of the analysis. It was found out that efforts made by the Nigerian government through several strategies like the nation's developmental plan from independent to date which were x-rayed did not bring about meaningful development. Similarly international organizations, and regional strategies had not led o any significant improvement in the living condition of the community dwellers and community development in general. The paper therefore, concludes among other things that for rapid and sustained community development to take place, the lopsided and urban based development process must be reversed to community based and bottom-up approach, government to continue to create conducive environment for community development to thrive, change of attitudes and orientation by all a sundry, particularly the leadership class in Nigeria in order to minimize corruption and mismanagement of resources.

    Percieved Influence of Nomadic education on Socio-economic Development of Nomads in Nomadic Settlement in Kwara State, Nigeria

    This study investigated the perceived influence of nomadic education on sustainable socio-economic development of nomads in nomadic settlements in Kwara State, Nigeria. The study adopted descriptive survey research design. The population for the study comprised of 2,680 nomadic learners and 101 facilitators in Kwara State. The sample for the study comprised 378 nomadic learners and 54 facilitators. Systematic random sampling technique was used to select two local Government Areas (LGAs) from each of the three Senatorial Districs in the State.Three nomadic education centres were selected using random sampling technique from each of the selected LGAs. Twenty-one learners and three facilitators were selected from each of the 18 nomadic education centres. Two research instruments: Learner Questionnaire(LQ) and an interview Guide(IG)for facilitators were used to collect information from the respondents. The date collected were analyised using simple percentage scores and frequency counts. The results showed that 64.8% of nomads participated in nomadic education classes, it was also revealed that92.5% of he respondents agreed that the knowledge gained in nomadic education classes help the nomads to contribute meaningfully to the development of their community, it was also shown that 94% of the respondents agreed that the knowledge gained from nomadic education classes changed the nomads mode of dressing. the type of food they eat and their level of interaction with the non-nomads in the community.

    Pre-Retirement Planning: Enlightenment for Workers Towards Financial Independence in Ilorin west L.G.A. Kwara State, Nigeria

    This paper examined the pre-retirement planning as enlightenment for workers towards financial independence in Kwara State, Nigeria. Descriptive research design was adopted for the study. The population of study consists of all the staff of Ilorin West local government, (654). A sample size of 100 respondents drawn from the staff of the local government using simple random sampling technique. A self-designed questionnaire was used to elicit relevant information from the respondents. Data collected from the respondents were analyzed using a simple percentage to analyze the demographic information of the respondent while mean and standard deviation was used to answer the research questions raised. This study explores how pre-retirement planning activities can increase the total resources of retirees, including tangible mental, social resources, and consequently contribute to better psychological and physical well-being. The results of the latent growth mediation models also support our prediction: retirees with more preparatory activities before retirement acquire greater resources at the initial stage, which contribute to positive changes in post-retirement well-being over time. The results of the study reveals that enlightening the public about pre-retirement planning help workers think critically and plan, Lack of proper information cause workers not plan effectively towards retirement, educating workers about pre-retirement planning before employment help them to plan adequately.

    Problems and Prospects of Women Access to Basic Literacy Programme in Kwara State

    This study focused on the problems faced by Women in accessing basic literacy education in Kwara State. The study adopted descriptive survey research design. The sample for the study consisted of 200 respondents randomly selected from different centres in the State. The instrument used for data collection was a questionnaire titled: ''Problems and Prospects of Women access to basic literacy education in Kwara State(PPWABLEQ). Data collected was analyised using descriptive statistical technique and weighted mean score of 2-5 as a criterion mean score for decision. Conclusion was drawn and recommendations made among others, government s at all levels should encourage Women to participate in basic literacy education, and that government at all levels should provide necessary tools needed for the effective implementation of the programme to achieve the desire goals.

    Promotin Financial Literacy for Pople's Sustainable Socio-Economic Development in Nigeria: An Adult Approach

    The need for financial literacy for every young Nigerian has now become necessary key approach in building an economic stability and viable and to promote individual livelihood status. The ability to read, analyze, manage, and communicate about the personal financial conditions that affect material wellbeing is of utmost importance. This paper discusses the concept of financial literacy from different authors perspectives and major issues relating to financial literacy were examined. It also examined the concept of sustainability development and the link between financial literacy and people's sustainability development were discussed. It was concluded that financial literacy enhance people knowledge of financial management prudency and communication thereby promoting their sustainable livelihood status. It was recommended among others that the Central Bank of Nigeria can do a lot to improve financial literacy education in Nigeria by working with provider of financial literacy education in the country to improve efficiency in the delivery of financial education programmes, increasing the awareness of the importance of personal financial education, promoting it and supporting seminar for teachers and facilitators on financial literacy education.

    The paper focuses on promoting adult learners' health sustainability through social media advocacy in Nigeria. The paper discusses the concept, social media, health and sustainability health, adult education and the emerging role of social media to promote health behavours towards a sustainable outcome. Emerging research is focused on evaluating the potential of social media as an oppurtunity to create awareness. Such measures require less effort in quantitative and isolating the effect. The design of the campigns is required to be aligned in relation to stages of the behaviour change. The study provides suggestions and recommendations on how this can be achieved. One of the recommendations provided includes the need to implement face-checking mechanisms on social media platforms to swifftly identify and counterfalse health information to help reduce the spread of harnful health related rumours. Also, citizens should increase the use of social media tools for remote consultations, especially in rural areas, to enhance access to healthcare and reduce the burden on physical health facilities

    The Role of Adult Education in Poverty Alleviation Strategies in Ilorin West Local Government, Kwara State, Nigeria

    This study explores the role of adult education in poverty alleviation strategies, using Ilorin West Local Government Area, Kwara State, as a case study. It posits that adult education is a crucial tool for empowering individuals with the skills and knowledge needed to improve their socioeconomic status. A descriptive research design was adopted. The study population comprised all 2,500 adult education learners in Ilorin West Local Government Area. A sample of 100 adult learners and 20 facilitators was selected. Two research questions and two hypotheses guided the study. Findings highlight a positive correlation between participation in adult education programs and improved economic outcomes, including increased employment opportunities, higher income levels, and an enhanced quality of life. Data were analyzed using percentages. The study concludes that adult education is a vital component of comprehensive poverty alleviation strategies and recommends policy interventions to support and expand these programs.
