Item Assessing the Implementation of Nomadic Education Curriculum in Nomadic Education Centers in Kwara state, Nigeria.(Published by Faculty of Education, University of Ilesa, 2025) KAYODE, Sadiq Toyin; Abdulsalam, Oladimeji Sholagberu; Abdulwahab, RafiuThis paper examined the implementation of the nomadic education curriculum in nomadic education centres in Kwara State, Nigeria. The nomadic education programme was established to extend educational opportunities to nomadic learners of mobile populations; its impact has been hindered. The paper argues that the implementation of the curriculum remains largely ineffective due to inadequate teaching and learning resources, insufficiently trained facilitators, low learners participation, weak communities’ participation and poor alignment of curriculum content with the cultural and economic realities of nomadic communities. Evidence suggests that these challenges continue to hinder the goals of inclusiveness and educational qualities. The Paper therefore, takes the position that unless urgent reforms are made such as improving facilitators’ participation, redesigning curriculum content to reflect nomadic livelihood and increasing government and stakeholders support, nomadic education programme will remain unable to achieve the intended objectives. Recommendations are provided to strengthen implementation strategies and provide sustainable educational outcomes for nomadic education in Kwara State, Nigeria.Item Beneficiaries and Non-Beneficiaries Perceived Causes of Poverty and the Progress of Poverty Alleviation Programme in Ilorin Metropolis.(Published by Institute Education, University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria, 2011) ABDULSALAM, Oladimeji Sholagberu; KAYODE, Sadiq ToyinThe study investigates causes of poverty as perceived by the beneficiaries and non- beneficiaries of poverty alleviation programme in Ilorin metropolis. The concept of poverty and its causes was discussed extensively. Two research questions were raised and answered. Descriptive survey was used in the study. Three hundred and seventy-five (375) beneficiaries and three hundred and eighty (380) non-beneficiaries of the poverty alleviation programme constituted sample for the study. The data generated from the study was subjected to statistical analysis of frequency count and percentage as well as mean score. Any figure above means score of 2.5 was considered acceptable decision while below 2.5 was considered as rejected decision on the causes of poverty. Result of the findings revealed that inadequate access to financial assistance, inadequate access to vocational skills, illiteracy and lack of people's participation in development programme were found to be the causes of poverty in Ilorin metropolis. It was recommended among other that adult literacy programme should be included in future poverty alleviation programme, and the government should wage anti-corruption crusade on the officials of the programme was well as creation of awareness campaign for the people.Item Challenges in Sustaining Youth Empowerment Programmes in Nigeria: The way forward(Published by Nigerian National Council for Adult Education, 2018) KAYODE, Sadiq Toyin; NAJMUDEEN, Aminat Hassan; MR. SHOLAGBERU, ABDULSALAM. O.Unemployment has become a major problem affecting the lives of Nigeria youths, causing increased militancy, violent crimes, kidnappings, restiveness and socially delinquent behaviour. Youth employment is devastating to both the individual and the society as a whole both psychologically and economically. The paper examine the issues of youth unemployment, consequences and possible solution such as potential intervention measures for effective career guidance, technical and vocational education. Recommendations were made which include that youths should be trained to possess skills which are congruent with real labor market demands, developing a special focus on career guidance, and robust platform for youths to develop their creative potentials. The paper concludes that the stakeholders should provide job opportunities to positively empower the youths to make then self-reliant through vocational and technical education (Agriculture, Fishery and Bee keeping) so as to reduce drastically unemployment that could mar their future by involving in undesirable behaviours.Item Promoting Financial Literacy for People's Sustainable Socio-Economic Development in Nigeria: An Adult Education Approach(Published by Institute of Education, University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria., 2018) SHOLAGBERU, Abdulsalam O.; OLASINDE, Bilikis Ajoke; KAYODE, Sadiq ToyinThe need for financial literacy for every young Nigerian has now become necessary key approach in building an economic stability and viable society and the need to promote individual livelihood status. The ability to read, analyze, manage and communicate about the personal financial conditions that affect material wellbeing is of utmost importance. This paper discusses the concept of financial literacy from different authors perspectives and major issues relating to financial literacy were examined. It also examine the concept of sustainable development and the link between financial literacy and people's sustainable development were discussed. It was concluded that financial literacy enhances people's knowledge of financial management prudency and communication thereby promoting their sustainable livelihood status. It was recommended among others that the Central Bank of Nigeria can do a lot to improve financial literacy education in Nigeria by working with providers of financial literacy education in the country to improve efficiency in the delivery of financial education programmes, increasing the awareness of the importance of personal financial education, promoting it and supporting seminars for teachers and facilitators of financial literacy education.Item Re-Positioning Adult Education Programmes For Sustainable Livelihood In Ilorin Metropolis of Kwara State, Nigeria(Published by Faculty of Education, Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, Nigeria., 2020) SHOLAGBERU, Abdulsalam Oladimeji; KAYODE, Sadiq Toyin; Dr. TAIWO, Toyin AmbaliEducating adult individual in any society is considered as a vital move towards liberating such individual adult. Thus, adult education programmes need to be readdressed to cater for individual adult needs in terms of economic, welfare and social development. Based on this premise, this paper explored the need to re-positioning adult education programmes for sustainable livelihood status of people in Ilorin Metropolis. Survey research design was adopted for the study and sample of 90 adult learners were randomly selected across three adult literacy centers in llorin metropolis. The study made use of a structured questionnaire to elicit relevance data from the respondents. Data collected were analysed using both descriptive and inferential statistics. Findings revealed that there was a significant relationship between adult education programme and reducing poverty level of adult individual. Also, there was a significant relationship between adult education programme, economic benefits and attitudinal changes of individual adults in the society. Based on the findings, i! was recommended, among others, that reliable and available data must be provided for proper planning and implementation of adult education programme. Society must ascribe value and prestige to this system of learning and appreciate it as needed for lifelong Education. Also, relevant and appropriate leaching and learning materials must be provided to adult literacy centres and adult facilitators/instructors must be adequately motivated.
