Item Assessment of factors Influencing Eating Habits of Commercial Drivers in Ilorin Metropolis and Its Implications on their Health.(Assessment of factors Influencing Eating Habits of Commercial Drivers in Ilorin Metropolis and Its Implications on their Health., 2018) James, J. F.The study examined some predisposing factors that influence eating habits among commercial drivers in Ilorin metropolis and its implications on their health. The objectives are to: determine the influence of level of education, economic status and cultural background of commercial drivers on their eating habits, and the health implications of poor eating habits. A descriptive research design of the survey type was used for the study. The population comprised all registered commercial drivers in Ilorin Metropolis. Multi-stage sampling technique comprising purposive, simple random, proportionate and systematic sampling techniques was used to select three hundred and fifty commercial drivers from the five selected motor parks in Ilorin metropolis. Researcher 's structured questionnaire validated by three experts was used for data collection. Using split-half method, a reliability coefficient of .76 was obtained. Inferential statistics of Chi-square was used to test the hypotheses postulated for the study at 0.05 alpha level of significance. The findings of the study revealed that educational status had influence on (cal x² = 144.31> crit val =16.92):economic status had influence on (cal x² = 265.58> crit val =16.92); and cultural background had influence on (cal x² = 91.38.> crit val =16.92) eating habits of commercial drivers in Ilorin metropolis, and there is significant implication of poor eating habits on (cal x² = 31.01> crit val =16.92) the health of commercial drivers in Ilorin metropolis. The researcher recommends that the media should be utilised by the government to educate the public at the motor parks on healthy eating habits, health education and promotion on nutrition should be given periodically and commercial drivers should be enlightened on how to combine healthy diet because of its implications on their health.Item Attitudinal and practical differences between male and female primary healthcare workers towards prevention of healthcare associated infection in Kwara-North Senatorial District.(Department of Health, Safety and Environmental Health Education, Faculty of Education, University of Benin, 2021) Kperogi, I. F.This study examined Attitudinal and Practical Differences between Male and Female Primary Healthcare(PHCWs) towards towards Prevention of Health and Associated Infections (HAIs) in Kwara-North Senatorial District. The objectives of this research were to examine the attitudinal and practical differences between male and female primary healthcare workers towards prevention of healthcare associated infections in Kwara North Senatorial District. The study adopted a descriptive research design of the survey type, using a multi stage random sampling technique to select 760 PHCWs in Kwara North Senatorial District. Pretested semi structured questionnaire was used to collect data from selected PHCWs, while Mean and standard deviations as well as one sample t- test statistics were used to analyze the data on research questions and hypotheses respectively. Level of significance used was set at P. value <0.05. It was observed that there were more female PHCWs that had better attitude towards prevention of infections than their male counterparts. More so, higher number of the -female PHCWs had good practice of preventive measures during healthcare delivery process than their male counterparts (calculated t-value of 11.102 is greater than 1.972 t critical at df 758). It was therefore concluded that there was good attitude and practice among female PHCWs on preventive measures against HAIs in Kwara-North Senatorial District (calculated t-value of 20.313 is greater than 2.972 t critical at df 758). It was recommended that there is need to intensify refresher trainings on the importance of safety measures towards improving the attitudes and practices of preventing HAls among PHCWs in Kwara-North Senatorial District.Item Causes of Drug Abuse as Expressed by Secondary School Students in Moro Local Government Area, Kwara State, Nigeria(University of Zimbabwe’s Human Resources Research Centre (HRRC), Faculty of Education, Harare, Zimbabwe., 2019) Ologele, I; Abdulraheem, A. M.; Jidda, K. A.; Kperogi, I. I.; James, J. F.; Oyewole, S. B.Increase in a number of young people abusing drugs has become a subject of public concern worldwide. Therefore, the study investigated the causes of drug abuse as expressed by secondary school students in Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State, Nigeria. The population of the study comprises of all the secondary school students in Moro Local Government Area. The descriptive research design of survey type was adopted for the study. Four hundred and thirty (430) respondents were selected the study with the use of purposive, proportionate and simple random sampling procedures. Researchers' designed questionnaire that had been validated three experts in the related field was used for the study. A test-retest method used to ascertain the reliability of the instrument and the result of 0.72r was obtained. Inferential statistics of chi- square was used to analyze the result of the stated hypotheses at 0.05 alpha level of significance. The result of the findings of this study showed that peer group and poor parental communication had an influence on the causes of drug abuse (428.01 16.92 at 0.05 alpha level of significant. 234.00-16.92) among secondary school students. The researchers concluded that peer group influence and poor parental communication causes drug abuse among secondary school students in Moro Local Government Area, Kwara State Nigeria. The researchers' recommended among others that Parents should show love, happiness and also take responsibility for helping secondary students to attain wholesome development into responsible adults.Item Causes of incomplete immunization among under-one year old in Ilorin south local government area, Kwara state, Nigeria(Department of Health Promotion and Environmental Health Education, 2015) Onifade, O. This study investigated the causes of incomplete immunization among under-one year olds in Ilorin South Local Government Area of Kwara State. A descriptive research design of survey type was adopted. The population of the study comprises of all the nursing mothers resided in Ilorin South Local Government Area of Kwara State. A sample of 220 nursing mothers selected from routine immunization centers were the respondents for the study. Multi-stage sampling techniques of purposive, stratified and simple random sampling were used to select the respondents. Researchers’ designed questionnaire validated by 3 experts in the area of study was used for the study. A test re-test method was used to ascertain the reliability of the instrument, a correlation coefficient of 0.70r was obtained. Four trained research assistants helped in data collection while chi-square statistics was used to test the hypotheses set for the study at 0.05 alpha level of significance. The findings showed that: 1. poor access to immunization centers had no significant influence on incomplete immunization of under-one year olds (12.45 < 16.92); 2. non availability of material resources had no significant influence on incomplete immunization of under-one year olds (13.55 < 16.92); and 3. poor utilization of immunization services had no significant influence on incomplete immunization of under-one year olds (18.14 > 16.92). It was concluded that poor access of mothers to immunization centers was not the causes of incomplete immunization among under one year old in the study area, non availability of material resources at the immunization centers was not the causes of incomplete immunization among under one year old and poor utilization of immunization services by mothers was the causes of incomplete immunization of under-one year old in the area. C.Oil spills have posed a major threat to the environment of the oil producing areas, which if not effectively checked can lead to the total destruction of ecosystems. The study investigated oil spillage as a contributory factor for health problems among residents of Awoye Community: Ondo State The objectives of the study investigate whether oil spillage contribute to the incidence of (1) Asthma (ii) Gastrointestinal disease, (iii) Skin disease among residents of Awoye community Ondo State, Nigeria A descriptive research design of survey type was employed for the study. The population of the study comprised residents of Awoye community in Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State Multistage sampling techniques of stratified, purposive and simple random sampling techniques were used to select 365 respondents that participated in the study. A researchers' designed structured questionnaire validated by three experts in the related field was used for the study A reliability co-efficient (r) of 0.85 was obtained through test re-test method. Data collected were analyzed using inferential statistics of chi-square to test the result of stated hypotheses at 0, 05 level of significance. The findings revealed ling that Oil spillage was a contributory factor for the incidence of Asthma among residents of Awoye to th community. Ondo State (calculated chi-square value of 20.32> critical value of 16.92 at df=9); Oil spillage was a contributory factor for the incidence of Gastrointestinal disease among residence of Awoye community Ondo State (calculated chi-square value of 18.45> critical value of 16.92 at df - 10.7 9); and Oil spillage was a contributory factor for the incidence of Skin disease among residents of Awoye community: Ondo State. (calculated chi-square value of 20.02> critical value of 16.92 at df-9). Based on findings of the study, it was concluded that oil spillage was a contributory factor for the ND incidence of asthma, gastrointestinal disease and skin disease among residents of Awoye community Ondo State. The researchers' recommend among others that the Ondo State government should relocate the community closer to oil pipe line to another save area so as to protect them against asthma disease which may occur due to oil spillage.Item Relationships between Parenting Styles and Social Health of Undergraduates of University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria.(2020) James, J. F.; Olaitan, O. L.; Adaramaja, S. R.; Ijaodola, T. K.This study inquired the relationship between parenting styles and social Health of undergraduates of University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria. Descriptive research design of survey type was adopted for the study. The population consisted all the undergraduates of the University of Ilorin, Ilorin, totalling 36.435 (2019). Multi-stage sampling technique of simple random technique and proportionate of simple balloting were used to select 390 respondents for the study. A researcher's designed questionnaire was used for data collection. Reliability of the instrument was ascertained through split-half method, Cronbach-Alpha was used for the analysis and reliability coefficient of 0.68 r. was obtained. Inferential statistics of Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC) was used to analyse the three postulated hypotheses at 0.05 alpha level, using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 23.0 software. The findings of the study showed that there is no relationship between parenting styles and friendliness, but there is correlation between some parenting styles, loneliness and self-actualization of undergraduates of University of Ilorin. The researcher recommends that, parents should adopt parenting styles that will inculcate good human relations and interactions in their children to encourage friendliness: allow their children to socialize with family, friends and neighbours and discourage living an isolated life; adopt parenting styles which has high positive effects on the children and speak positive words that build confidence and efficacy in children and make them believe in themselvesItem School Health program as a panacea for ensuring safe school environment among secondary school students in Ifelodun LGA of Kwara state.(Published by Department of Human Kinetics and Health Education, Faculty of Education, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria, 2022) James, J. F.Supporting school health programs to improve the health status of our school is very important. This study examined school health program as a panacea for ensuring safe school environment among secondary school students in Ifelodun LGA, Kwara State. The objectives of this study was to investigate whether adequate school health services will ensure safe school environment. Descriptive research design of survey type was adopted for this study. Population comprised all secondary school teachers selected across all the secondary schools within eleven wards in Ifelodun LGA, kwara state. Using proportionate and simple random sampling technique with a sample of 250 respondents selected. Researcher's designed structured questionnaire of Likert format rating scale, validated by three experts and tested for reliability through test-retest method was used for data collection. Pearson Product Moment Correlation was used to correlate the result and 0.84 was obtained. The three postulated hypotheses were tested using inferential statistics of Chi-square at 0.05 alpha level. The researcher concluded that school health services, school health education and healthful school environment will ensure safe school environment among secondary school students. F.this study investigated the socio-cultural factors influencing the choice of family planning methods among married couples in Ife Central Local Government Area of Osun State. The purpose of the study was to examine if factors, level of education, ethnicity and cost of contraceptives influence choice of family planning methods. the population comprised all couples in Ife Central Local Government Area of Osun State. Multistage sampling techniques was used to select 160 respondents. A researcher designed questionnaire was used for data collection. a reliability coefficient of 0.8r was obtained through test re-test method using Spearman-Brown correlation. Data collection was conducted. Inferential statistics of Chi-square was used to test the null hypotheses at 0.05 alpha level. The hypotheses findings revealed that: level of education, ethnicity and cost of method influence the choice of family planning method among married couple with all the calculated value greater than table value at 0.05 alpha level. The study concluded that level of education, ethnicity and cost of contraceptives are socio-cultural factors influencing the choice of family planning among married couples. therefore, it was recommended that married couples should seek more knowledge about family planning as it will help them to plan for their future, ethnicity should not be a problem of planning and seek cheaper cost of contraceptives.
