    Assessing the Use of Multimedia Technology in Enhancing Learning Outcomes for Students with Special Educational Needs

    Abstract This study focused on the incorporation of multimedia in special needs education, with Kwara State’s School of Special Needs in view. The objectives of the study were to examine the extent of the incorporation, perceived benefits and challenges of the use of multimedia technology in special needs education. Piaget's theory of cognitive development underlined the research work. Semi-structured interview questions were administered to the participants of this study, using a snowball sampling approach, and their responses were analysed thematically. The results showed a high level of multimedia incorporation in special needs education in the case study of this research. However, there are several impediments to its adoption. The study recommended that training and re-training for educators must be prioritised; infrastructure must be improved; and policies should be reviewed to enable a guided use of mobile learning devices and locally multimedia contents.
