    The Future Election in Nigeria: Interogating the 2015 General Election

    The administrative efficiency of INEC restored confidence into the electorates in Nigeria's 2015 general elections. The introduction of permanent voter's card (PVCs) and smart card readers (SCRs) were effective in increasing the reliability of the voters register and reducing opportunity for fraud, but their impact had been limited by the seemingly poor quality of biometric data capture and subsequently weak fingerprint recognition rate during polling. This study examines the 2015 general elections as conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Despite the general acceptance of the 2015 general elections as free, fair and transparent, there were observed institutional lapses or structural procedural weaknesses that berated the election especially during collation. Content Analytical Approach was adopted from an institutional perspective while qualitative-descriptive and ex post facto survey design was adopted as the research methods.
