    Productivity Skills: A review of Literature and Implications for Community Development in Nigeria.

    Abstract This paper reviewed literature on productivity skills and draw implications for community development in Nigeria. Literature were reviewed on productivity skills such as communications skills (listening, verbal, and written), analytical/research skills, computer/technical literacy, flexibility/adaptability/managing multiple priorities, interpersonal abilities, leadership/management skills, multicultural sensitivity/ awareness, planning/ organizing, problem-solving/ reasoning/ creativity and teamwork. Among the implications of productivity skills for community development in Nigeria drawn was that, it is important that community members communicate effectively. For through effective communication, community members are likely to understand themselves better which in the long run, the tendency to have higher level of harmonious co-existence is likely to be very high. The paper concluded that while these skills are seen to be important in the workplace, it could have spill over benefits to the community and sometimes even important for community development in Nigeria Key words: Productivity skills, Review of Literature, Community development

    Records and records keeping in literacy programmes.

    ABSTRACT Records connote a catalogue of activities, events or information on literacy programmes. The information contained therein are usually organized and should be properly maintained to facilitate smooth flow of information when required. This paper is therefore an attempt to discuss the nature of records and importance of records in literacy programmes; records typology and procedure for record production and storage. The paper concluded that production of records which are readily accessible is very important for effective and efficient literacy education, particularly in decision making. The author suggested the involvement of all in literacy data collection and processing. Also suggested was that part of the capacity building project(s) embarking upon by Agencies for Mass Education and other institutions should have data management included as an important area to which every participant should be exposed.
