Item Effect of collective bargaining on conflict resolution at Nigerian Bottling Company, Asejire Plant, Ibadan, Nigeria(Sahel Analyst: Journal of Management Sciences, 2019-06-01) Dunmade Emmanuel Olaniyi; Aliyu Mustapha Olanrewaju; Aderibigbe, A.OCollective bargaining is an effective machinery adopted by any organization that craves for industrial peace and harmony in resolving its conflict as dispute is part of human life. This study examines the effect of collective bargaining on conflict resolution using Nigerian Bottling Company, Asejire Plant, Ibadan as the case study. Simple random sampling technique was adopted for the study with the use of structured questionnaire to elicit information from the respondents. The descriptive statistics used comprised simple percentages, mean and ranking while inferential statistics utilized was a linear regression via Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). The findings of the study established that collective bargaining has significant effect on industrial harmony in the Nigerian Bottling Company, F (559.7, p < 0.05). The results of the study also identified outrageous population of employees ( x =2.31, SD=0.91), role of government in industrial relations ( x =2.19, SD=1.00), and inducement of labour unions’ leaders by management in the organization ( x =2.18, SD=0.81) as main factors that influence collective bargaining in an attempt to resolve conflict in the Nigerian Bottling Company. The study concludes that management – employees’ joint negotiation or consultation and not confrontation on matters of concern are necessities for timely and effective conflict resolution in the organization as these guarantee needed industrial peace and harmony for business success. The study therefore recommended that Management of Nigerian Bottling Company should regard collective bargaining as the appropriate apparatus for resolving industrial conflicts so as to ensure industrial harmony and enhanced employees’ productivity.Item EVALUATING THE IMPACT OF OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY MEASURES ON WORK PERFORMANCE IN KAM WIRE INDUSTRY, ILORIN(Fountain University Osogbo Journal of Management (FUOJM), A Publication of Departments of Accounting & Finance and Business Administration, Fountain University, Osogbo., 2019) Dunmade Emmanuel Olaniyi; Kadiri Ismaila Bolarinwa; Akindele Iyiola Tomilayo; Ishola Abdulrasaq AjadiAn organization becomes significantly effective by reducing the rates and severity of occupational accidents, diseases, workplace violence, stress related illnesses through availability of safety and health measures or schemes since the workplace depends on its employees as working partners and fellow members of the organization community. This in turn improves the quality of employees’ work performance in the organization. The study therefore seeks to ascertain the influence of health and safety schemes on employees’ work performance in Kam Wire Industry, Ilorin in Kwara - State. This was with the population of 318 and the sample size of 177 which was determined with the use of Taro Yamane’s formula. Simple random sampling technique was employed for the study with the utilization of structured questionnaire to elicit the needed information from the respondents. The descriptive statistics used comprised simple percentages and tables, while inferential statistics utilized were multiples regressions. The findings of the study showed that staff of Kam Wire Industry could effectively and easily assess the company’s occupational health and safety measures. The findings of the study pointed out further that there is a significant effect of industrial health and safety measures on employees’ work performance in the industry (R2 =.148; F= 16.413, p < 0.05). The study therefore recommends: that efforts should always be made to involve employees as well in the decisions making that directly affect them; and that regular inspection and maintenance should frequently be carried out on the safety and health management facilities of the company. This is to make the facilities to be up-to-date.Item Influence of learning and development on employees’ efficiency in selected money deposit banks in Nigeria(Ilorin Journal of Management Sciences, 2017-02-01) Aliyu Mustapha Olanrewaju; Dunmade Emmanuel OlaniyiIn recent times, most money deposit banks (MDBs) in Nigeria are facing the tasks of employees‟ turnover intention due to low productivity and contract of agreement and most banks continue to downsizing and recruiting new hands. On this note, it is consider important for employees to improve on their approaches, thus giving room for continuous learning and development. The objective of this study was to examine whether employees‟ learning and development enhances work efficiency in the banking industry. Primary data were used for the study, which were generated through the use of structured questionnaire. Simple random technique was used to select a total number of 180 staff from all listed MDBs in Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE). Data collected were analyzed using Pearson‟s Movement Correlation to test the hypotheses formulated for the study. The result indicated that there is a positive correlation among all the variables. Result of model summary shows that the dependent variable (employees‟ efficiency) accounts for 28.4% of the variation in job rotation as correlation coefficients and p-values (-0.175**; 1.162**; 0.020**; -0.027** and 0.000; 0.000; 0.000; 0.000) respectively shown. The study therefore concluded that learning and development have important impact on employees‟ efficiency and organizational growth. Based on the results obtained, it was recommended that banks should undertake an in-depth assessment of the individual learning needs to ensure that the right training is given and feedback should be provided which will allows employees to be informed of changes to both their work goals and the overall goals of the organization.Item The role of gender and religion on women participation in decision making process in Nigeria(Departments of Accounting & finance and Business Administration Fountain University, Osogbo, Nigeria., 2020) Akindele Iyiola Tomilola; Dunmade Emmanuel OlaniyiGender equality has become one of the core global discussions nowadays in academic, business and politics; it has been perceived as a clear-cut catalyst for development. This study discussed the role of gender and religion on women participation in decision making process in Nigeria. It examined perception of male and female participation in decision making in the public service, and also determine the influence of religion on participation in decision making process. The population of the study was 9248 drawn from eight ministries among Osun State civil servants in Osogbo. It adopted multi-stage sampling technique in the process of selection and collection of data. The sample size was 354 respondents. Data collected were analysed using, independent "t" test, Anova and Multiple comparisons between the groups. The findings of the study showed that there is significant difference in the scores for males (x = 21.2, S.D= 3.15) and females scores X=20. 1, S.D= 1.69, t(198) = 3.26, P= 0.30. This indicated clearly that male respondents X-21.2 reported more favourably in participation in the decision making process than female respondents M- 20.10. Also, the study revealed that there was no statistically significant difference between Christianity, Islam and other religion in their participation in decision making process. F(2,197=0 404, P=0. 668, p>.05). The study concluded that to enhance gender equality, education should be used to empower female counterpart. Also, right to religion should be balanced between male and female, and there should be equal right, and assessment to decision making.
