Item Betrayal and Redemption: A Theological Exploration of Luke 22:1-6 and its Moral Lessons for Nigerian Christians(Department of Religious and Peace Studies, University, Ojo, Faculty of Arts, Lagos State, 2024-05-20) Daniel, M.TOluwatimileyin Emmanuel Adewole 5:15 PM (6 minutes ago) to me Nigeria is going through a period of political and economic transition after over 50 years of inde pendence. Despite this fact, the country is richly blessed with linguistic, ethnic, political, cultural and religious diversity. There are three basic religions in the country which includes Christianity, Islam and Africa Traditional Religion. Christianity as one of the major religions has often addressed the issue of bribery as well as gave several moral lessons in guiding the lives of its adherents. This study explores the theological significance of Luke 22:1-6, focusing on Judas' betrayal and its impli cations for Nigerian Christians. Despite the religiosity, discipleship and the closeness of learning at the feet of Christ, he still managed to get deceived by the Devil and finally betrayed Christ. Through Biblical exegesis, narrative, descriptive and theological reflection, this paper examines the complex interplay between human sin and divine providence. The study reveals that Jesus' sacrifice serves as a paradigm for redemption, forgiveness, and loyalty. This research applies biblical principles to contemporary Nigerian contexts, addressing themes such as the nature of sin and Judas betrayal, bribery in Nigeria and its effects, trusting God's sovereignty amidst challenges, and embracing re-demption and forgiveness. Findings reveal that, this study will contribute tremendously to biblical scholarship providing moral guidance for all Christians, and as well enhances understanding of re-demption and forgiveness. It concludes and recommends among others that, the Nigerian Chris-tians should embrace the valuable moral lessons provided in Luke 22:1-6, among which are, loyalty and faithfulness in the face of temptation, trusting God's sovereignty amidst uncertainty and em-bracing forgiveness and redemption. Good leadership is patterned by its goals and vision, which help achieve positive results; the foundation of any faulty leadership is prone to collapse, so leadership remains a fundamental process in every organization in which such an organization builds a style of operation. It must be borne in mind that different leadership styles abound, and each style operates based on the principles required within the setting; on this basis, the primary focus of this paper is church leadership styles, with particular reference to the leadership styles of Moses and its implications on contemporary church leaders in Nigeria Some leadership styles that are being utilized in some Nigerian churches are causing disaffection among members, which is unhealthy for the church. Scholars' opinions were sought on how Moses achieved success as a leader. Positive and negative lessons that can help the church leaders in contemporary Nigeria were identified. The historical method was utilized to know more about Moses' experiences, his call, and his leadership techniques. All these constitute high standards of leadership styles to be emulated by contemporary church leaders. It is discovered that leadership in the church goes a long with a high level of responsibility, and for any church to achieve its primary aim (which is the determinant force), cooperation from the followers must be encouraged by the leader through perseverance, humility, long-suffering servant-leader styles among others.
