Item Attribution of Causes of High Blood Pressure among Married Adults in Ogbomoso, Oyo State(Department of Physical and Health Education, Faculty of Education, University of Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria., 2017-03) Alwajud-Adewusi, M.B; Odebode, A.A; Mustapha, M.L.A.; & Adegboyega, L.O.High blood pressure is a health problem with devastating consequences. This study aimed to investigate the attributed causes of high blood pressure among married adults in Ogbomoso. The descriptive research design was employed for the study. The simple random and proportionate sampling techniques were employed in selecting samples from selected local government areas. The t-test and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) were used to analyse the data generated. The hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance. The results showed that there was no significant difference in the attributed causes of high blood pressure on the basis of gender. However, there were significant differences on the bases of age and educational level. It was recommended that healthy lifestyle habits such as regular exercise, less salt consumption, adequate intake of fruits and vegetables, reduction of alcohol intake and smoking should be encouraged to reduce the incidence of high blood pressure.Item Couselling Needs of Students Involved in Indiscipline as Expressed by secondary school teachers in Ilorin Metropolis, Nigeria(Department of Counsellor Education Faculty of Education University of Ilorin, 2012-06-12) Alwajud-Adewusi, M.B; Akanbi, S.AIndiscipline among secondary school students in Nigeria has become a major challenge which requires a scientific study and counseling intervention. This study therefore examined the counseling needs of students involved in indiscipline as expressed by teachers. The descriptive research design was adopted and a sample random sampling technique was employed in selecting the respondents for the study. Data analysis was carried out using descriptive and inferential statistics. The hypotheses generated were tested at 0.05 alpha level. The main findings revealed that students who are involved in indiscipline require counseling in areas of compliance with school rules and regulation and obedience to school authorities. The results also showed that there was no significant difference in the counseling needs of secondary school students involved in indiscipline as expressed by secondary school teachers based on gender and school type. However, a significant difference was found in the respondents’ views based on years of professional experience. Based on the findings, it was recommended that, secondary schools should ensure availability of guidance and counseling services and facilities. In addition, there is a real need for parents and teachers to actively participate in educating students on ethical behaviours as this will ensure the reduction of indiscipline in schools.Item Professionals' Perception of the Role of Guidance and Counselling in Social Integration of Persons with Special Needs in Ilorin Metropolis(Department of Educational Foundations, Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto, 2014-01) Alwajud-Adewusi, M.B; Odebode, R.A.This study investigated professionals’ perception of role of guidance and counselling in social integration of persons with special needs in Ilorin metropolis. Descriptive research design was adopted and a simple random sampling technique was employed in selecting 100 professionals. The t-test and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) were used in testing the hypotheses raised in the study at 0.05 alpha level. The findings showed that there were no significant differences in the role of guidance and counseling in social integration of persons with special needs based on gender, religion, years of experience and highest educational qualification. Based on the findings, it was recommended that counselors, government, and entire members of the society should endure to work towards fostering the social integration of persons with special needs in our society.
