Enhancing Professionalism in Teaching Islamic Studies through Employment of Adequate Instructional Resources. In Supporting Modern Teaching in Islamic Schools Pedagogical Best Practice for Teachers.
    (Routledge, 2022) Abdur-Rafiu, J.; UA Ajidagba; Aliyu, Y.
Instructional resources (IR) constitute an integral aspect of instructional delivery. Teaching without the employ of relevant instructional media is not likely to lead to the realisation of the instructional objectives. Thus, in teaching any given subject, a prospective teacher would require some aids that would be employed to facilitate his or her teaching. Therefore, this study was carried out to expound on the importance of IR in the teaching and learning of Islamic studies. Specifically, the study focusses on the presentation of the definitions of the themes, elucidation of concepts and analysis of the principles guiding the selection and utilisation of IR in teaching Islamic studies. An analytical method was employed. Information was sourced from textbooks, empirical studies and electronic sources. It was revealed in the study that no branch of Islamic studies does not require the application of instructional media during the teaching-learning process. IR ranging from audio, visuals, audio-visuals, print, projected, non-projected media, community resources and human resources are all resources that could be applied in teaching all aspects of Islamic studies. It is, therefore, reiterated that Islamic studies teachers need to be conversant with the knowledge and principles guiding the selection and application of instructional media so as to enhance professionalism in their teaching activities.

Enhancing the Productivity of Almajiri Education in Northern Nigeria through Integration of Edupreneurship Curriculum
(Faculty of Education, University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria, 2025) Abdur-Rafiu, J.; Zakari, G.,; Aliyu, Y.
This study evaluated the incorporation of entrepreneurial elements into the Tsangaya Almajiri education system in Northern Nigeria. Employing a descriptive survey design, the research focused on teachers and students from Tsangaya Almajiri schools within three geopolitical zones: North Central, North West, and North East. A multi-stage sampling procedure was adopted to select 563 teachers and 600 students from Kaduna, Bauchi, and Niger states. Data was gathered using questionnaires and analysed through percentage and t-test statistics. The results showed that teachers generally supported the curriculum’s objectives, which align with the educational roles of promoting peace, security, and cultural harmony. While the curriculum content was considered sufficient, teaching methods primarily relied on traditional approaches with limited interactive strategies. There was a significant lack of advanced resources, such as projectors and computers. Both teachers and students viewed the inclusion of entrepreneurial education as beneficial, equipping graduates with skills for self-employment and employment, fostering self-reliance. However, notable differences were observed between teacher and student perceptions of the curriculum’s effectiveness, with students expressing greater confidence in its ability to promote self-employment. The study concluded that this holistic approach could prepare individuals for academic and professional success, contributing to the development of Northern Nigeria. Recommendations included addressing resource gaps, improving teaching methods, and aligning curriculum goals with practical outcomes to maximize its impact

In addition, most Islamic scholars disposed negatively to the vaccination against COVID-19 due to ambiguity surrounding the vaccine.
