Item Effect of role ambiguity on job satisfaction and employees performance in Kwara – State Civil Service.(Published by the Department of Economics, Federal University, Birnin Kebi – State, Nigeria., 2019) Dunmade, Emmanuel Olaniyi; Akindele, Iyiola Tomilayo; Aderibigbe, Ademola SegunOrganizations with the determination for market relevance and passion for greatness through prompt achievement of strategic goals tend to have a relative low rate of employees turnover aside the possession of more competent and highly satisfied workforces with added commitment level. This can be made possible through avoidance of role ambiguity in the course of organization's job design with a view to ensuring employees' in-depth understanding of their required duties and also guarantee their job satisfaction and enhancement of their work performance in the organization. The study is a descriptive research survey. The study population encompassed all the staff of ministry of Education in kwara State, Nigeria totaling 375. The sample size for the survey was 194 as this was determined by Taro Yamane formula and data collection was through questionnaire administration. The formulated hypothesis were tested with t- test statistical tool. Collected data were analysed with the utilization of statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) software. The findings revealed that there was a significant effect of role ambiguity on job satisfaction among Kwara State civil servants (M=40.30, SD 6.43; t 180) = 8.92, p<05). The study therefore concludes that role ambiguity and job satisfaction have negative relationship and also that role ambiguity negatively or adversely affects performance of kwara State civil servants in the studied ministry. It was therefore, recommended that there should be creation of a working environment in the kwara State ministry of Education so as to encourage communication and employees' feedback and to ensure clear outlines of responsibilities (role clarity) for staff with a view to avoiding the diverse effects or consequences of role ambiguity.Item Impact of performance appraisal on employee productivity: Evidence from selected banks(College of Management & Social Sciences, Fountain University Osogbo, Nigeria, 2020-05-01) Akindele, Iyiola Tomilayo; Olatoye, Oludare Adeolu; Oyekanmi, Taiwo TaoheedMany organisations experience low productivity despite their acclaimed effective performance appraisal system. In Nigeria, many organisations, espccially banks are experiencing low productivity and performance due to ineffective appraisal system. This study, therefore, seeks to investigate the impact of performance appraisal strategy on employee performance with specific reference to selected Nigerian banks. Five banks were selected through purposive method. Judgmental sampling technique was also used to select Head of Operation, Accountant, Auditor, and Branch Manager from 5 branches of the selected banks in Ibadan metropolis, Oyo State, Nigeria. One hundred respondents served as sample size for the study. The data collection instrument for the study was structured questionnaire to elicit information. Simple percentage and Ordinary Least Square (OLS) were adopted for data analysis. Findings show that the overall assessment of performance appraisal in Nigerian banks has a significant impact on employee performance and also reveals that most Nigerian banks makes use of the ranking method to assess their staff. Consequently, the study recommends that bank authorities should not appraise the performance of employees based on the deposit target, but on their accomplished duties.Item THE INTERACTIVE EFFECT OF WAGES AND SALARIES ADMINISTRATION ON WORKERS' PERFORMANCE IN NIGERIA(Dept. of Public Administration, University of Ilorin, 2017-12) Akindele, Iyiola Tomilayo; Akindele, Richard Iyiola; AbdulKareem, Abdulrazaq KayodeThe study investigates the effects of wages and salaries administration on workers' performances using MTN Communication as a case study. The paper examines the attitude of managements towards wages and salaries administration. It also investigates the relationship between wages and salaries increment and employees' satisfaction and finally determined the effect of wages and salary increment on the achievement of organizational goals. Data collected were from both primary and secondary sources. Questionnaires were administered to obtain the primary data. Analysis was done using descriptive and inferential statistics such as mean scores, frequency distribution, percentages and chi-square test. The findings were that the attitude of managements towards wages and salaries administration was highly positive and supportive. Also, there was a direct relationship between wages and salaries increment and satisfactions; employees displayed satisfaction towards salary increment. Finally it was revealed that prompt payment of wages and salaries and increment as at when due leads to the achievement of organizational goals.
