    (2024) Okafor, I.P; Abdullahi N.J.K; Agubosi, L. A.
Education is the right of every human being and it is essential instrument for actualization of the objectives of freedom, equal development and peace in the society. A free and fair education benefits both sexes and it will result to equal relationship to men and women which will in turn produce healthy and productive human beings in the society. Violence against women and girls are the most common type of violence in the globe today. Violence itself is a social behaviour that is noticed in long -and short- term socialization effects. People perceive violence in both cultural, and social norms that is why women and girls are seen as a second-class citizen. It is the society tradition that places women and girls to the relegated position they find themselves today. They are limited to education and job opportunities and are exposed to different kinds of violence such as rape, sexual assault, teen pregnancy, early marriage, female genital cutting, physical abuse, abortion, domestic violence and so on. This type of violence takes place at home, offices, schools, streets and the society at large. Women shelter should be provided in Nigeria for victims of violence because these types of violence can affect the women physically, emotionally, psychologically. Physically violence generally is a complex, multifaceted societal and global matter. This paper examined different types of violence that women and girls experience in the society causes, 57 preventions, recommendations and conclusion were made. Violence in our society can be prevented if stringent measures are passed to perpetrators. Women should try all they can to acquire knowledge (Western education) so as to be relevant to the changing world. Women police stations should be introduced in Nigeria like in Brazil where women are free to express their grievances to their women folk. Courses that will teach violence should be introduced in our schools at various levels in the society at large

Substance abuse as correlate of delinquent behaviours among secondary school students in Kwara State
(Faculty of education, University of Nigeria Nsukka, 2025) Agubosi, L. A.; Abiola, F.Y; Anthony, E.E.
This study examined the correlation between substance abuse and delinquent behaviors among secondary school students in Kwara State. It also assessed the influence of gender, age, school type, and class type on students' delinquent behaviors. A correlational survey research design was adopted, guided by two research questions and five null hypotheses. The study population comprised 403 secondary school students, selected through a multistage sampling procedure. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire titled Substance Abuse and Delinquent Behaviours Questionnaire (PISADBQ). Descriptive and inferential statistical methods, including percentage, mean, rank order, t-test, and analysis of variance (ANOVA), were used for data analysis, with hypotheses tested at a 0.05 significance level. Findings indicated a low level of substance abuse and delinquent behavior among respondents. However, a significant correlation was found between substance abuse and delinquent behaviors. Additionally, significant differences in delinquent behaviors were observed based on gender, age, and school type. Based on these findings, it was recommended that school authorities reinforce efforts to discourage substance abuse and delinquent behavior among students. Furthermore, counselors should develop age-appropriate intervention programs to prevent substance abuse and mitigate its potential influence on delinquent behaviors.
