Item Assessment of Users' Trust and Satisfaction on E-commerce Services among Students of the University of Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria(University of Ghana, 2022) Afolayan, O. T.; Ayanwuyi, T.Despite the growth of e-commerce services over a decade now, users and providers, especially in a developing country like Nigeria are still posed with some challenges in their use and delivery of e commerce services. In view of this, this study aims to assess the level of users' trust and satisfaction on e-commerce services among students at the University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Kwara State. A survey design was adopted using a structured and validated questionnaire to collect data. A total sample of 267 students was selected using a stratified sampling technique from the Five departments in the Faculty of Communication and Information Sciences (FCIS), University of Ilorin. Descriptive statistics such as frequency, percentages, and means were used to analyze data. Findings revealed a moderate level of trust and satisfaction of e-commerce services. It further revealed some perceived factors that affected users' trust and satisfaction on e-commerce services such as delay in delivery of purchased products, website inaccessibility, lower quality of products, fake certification of warranty on damaged products, and inability to make the payment due to connectivity issues among others. Also, users reported challenges such as the inability to locate customers' addresses by providers, delays in product delivery, and the problem of tracking ordered products among others. It was concluded that there is a need for regular user surveys to ascertain the level of trust and satisfaction derived from e-commerce services; to improve service quality and delivery. There is also an urgent need for relevant stakeholders such as e commerce providers and the government to address numerous challenges faced by users in the use of e commerce services in Nigeria.Item Mobile Phone Usage in Rural Communities in Kwara State, Nigeria(2015) Afolayan, O. A.; Bello, O.; Balogun, N.The rise in mobile telephony has continued to bridge the wide disparity between urban and rural dwellers, although there are suggestions that mobile phones have not been optimally utilized by rural dwellers. In view of this, the main aim of this study was to examine mobile phone usage in rural communities of Kwara State, Nigeria; considering demographic influence on usage, extent of use, type of ownership and challenges encountered by rural dwellers in the use of mobile phones. The population of study comprised a total of 1475 rural dwellers from twelve communities that were randomly selected from two local government areas under each of the three senatorial districts in Kwara State. On the whole, findings revealed a considerable adoption of mobile phones by rural dwellers based on the proportion of the study sample that used it and the various tasks performed with the phones such as text messaging, voice calling, among others, in spite of the prevailing challenges. Asides, the influence of demographics such as gender and occupation determined mobile phone usage in the study area. Policy recommendations were made toward addressing the various challenges confronting rural dwellers in the use of mobile phones.Item Perception of University Students on E-learning and Conventional Modes of Learning During and After COVID-19 Pandemic(Federal University of Technology, Minna, 2022) Afolayan, O. T.; Ogheneovo, V.O.The study investigated the perception of students on e-learning and conventional modes of learning during and after the COVID-19 pandemic period. A descriptive survey design was adopted using a structured and validated instrument to collect data. The population of study comprised of mainly Faculty of Communication and Information Sciences (FCIS) students selected from five departments using Stratified random sampling. A total of 231 respondents served as the sample size of the study. Findings revealed a positive perception of the two learning modes (e-learning and conventional learning) among students in terms of perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use and perceived cost. It also revealed perceived effectiveness of the two learning modes (e-learning and conventional learning) however, there was a slim difference in their level of effectiveness. The major challenges identified by students in the use of e-learning platforms are: poor connectivity and network issues, while for conventional mode of learning are: lack of conducive classroom environment and inadequate space to accommodate large number of students among others. It was concluded that students utilize e-learning and conventional learning effectively, however there are imminent challenges faced by students in the use of the two learning modes. Therefore, Management of Institutions of learning should ensure that the two learning modes are optimally utilized by students, and also an urgent need to address the challenges posed by the two learning modes.
