Item Influence of Long Distance Marriage on Family Life Pattern among Working Class Couples in Oyo State.(Published by Family and Consumer Sciences Society of Nigeria. (FACSSON), 2019) Gbadebo, C. T; Opaleke, O.D; Abraham, M.O; Ajao, BThe study investigated the influence of long distance marriage on family life pattern among the working class couple in Oyo State. Three (3) research questions were raised and one (1) hypotheses was formulated and tested at 0.05 levels of significances. Survey research design was adopted. The total population was two thousand nine hundred and twenty five (2,925). The sample comprised one Hundred and fifty respondents constituting approximately 5.1% of the population. 150 working class couple was selected from Oyo State Government Secretariat, Ibadan using proportionate sampling techniques Long Distance Marriage Family Life Questionnaire (LDMFLQ) is the instrument used for data collection. Research questions 1-3 were analysed using frequency counts, percentages, mean (x), standard deviation (SD). The Null Hypothesis formulated in the study was tested with Pearson Product Moment Correlation. The findings revealed that problems encountered in long distance marriage include loneliness ( = 2.94) 72.6%, difficulty in achieving personal needs of the family ( = 3.03)78.7% among others. Result of the findings also revealed that long distance marriage influence family life pattern of working class couples as they experience lack of warm and comfortable relationship ( = 2.95) 71.3%, and inability to fulfil conjugal relationship ( = 2.52) 51.4%. 60.7% claim they are able to maintain balanced diet even with an absent spouse and, it was revealed that long distance marriage significantly influence family life pattern of working class couples (p<0.05).The study concluded that Long distance marriage significantly influence family life pattern of working class couple (p>0.05). It was therefore recommended that couples should be making out time to visit one another and practice open communication to avoid inability to fulfil conjugal relationships.Item Influence of Maternal Education on Nutritional Status of Pre-School Children in Ilorin West Local Government Area, Kwara State. University of Benin, Benin, Edo State, 2015) Gbadebo, C.T.,; Abraham, M.O; Adebayo, B.AAbstract The study investigated the influence of maternal education on nutritional status of pre-school children (0-5years old) in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State. Four research questions were raised and two research hypotheses were formulated and tested at 0.05 level of significance. Survey research design was adopted for the study. The population of the study comprised women (and their children) who have children aged 0-5years attending Cottage Hospital and Adewole Clinic and Maternity. A total of one hundred (100) women (Nursing parents) and their children constituted the study sample using random sampling technique. The instruments used were questionnaire tagged Maternal Education and Nutritional Status Questionnaire (MENSQ) and anthropometric measurement, height and weight were measured and compared with WHO standard values. The instrument had reliability index of .749. Data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics such as frequencies, percentages, mean and standard deviation. The null hypothesis formulated for the study was tested using Pearson Product Moment Correlation. The results revealed that 40% of the children examined had low height for age 23% had a normal height for age while 37.0% had a high height for age. Also. 35.0% had a low weight for age 38.0% had a normal weight for age while 27.096 had a high weight for age. The findings revealed no significant relationship between the level of maternal education and nutritional status of pre-school children in the study area. It was concluded that maternal education does not influence the nutritional status of preschool children. Based on the findings of the study,recommendations proffered among others are that government should. endeavour to make provision for women empowerment as this might have significant influence on nutritional status, also more enlightenment programmes should be launched to create awareness n the importance of nutrition and dissemination of information regarding nutritional needs of pre-school children.
