    Assessing The Impact of Social Investment N-Power Programme on Livelihood Improvement Among Residents in Ilorin Metropolis, Kwara State, Nigeria

    The study was carried out to access the impact of social investment N-power programme on livelihood improvement among residents in Ilorin Metropolis, Kwara State, Nigeria The study's population comprised a total of 1,035 beneficiaries of N-power programme from three local government areas within Ilorin Metropolis. A sample of 90 beneficiaries were selected using a proportionate random sampling technique in the ratio 1:2:3. Three specific objectives guided the study, three research questions were raised and answered and one null hypothesis formulated. A well-structured questionnaire titled “Impact of Social Investment N-Power Programme on People Livelihood Improvement (ISINPPPLI)” dully validated by three experts with the reliability index of 0.76 was used to collect relevant data from the sampled respondents and the data collected were analyzed with the used of both descriptive and inferential statistics; descriptive mean scores, standard deviation and inferential statistics of chi-square. Findings from the study revealed that N-power programme of social investment has significant impacts on the beneficiaries’ livelihood status with average mean responses high above the criterion mean (2.86) also, the training received through social investment N-power programme has significant impact on socio-economic development of individual within Ilorin Metropolis. There is statistically significant differences on the basis of gender and the level of livelihood improvement of beneficiaries from social investment N-power programme. The study recommends among that, the economic policies of governments should be geared towards the creation of jobs through various empowerment programme. Also, there is the need for proper monitoring and evaluation of fund meant for the programme for sustenance and to meet target objectives.

    Ensuring Effective Management of Literacy Education on Marginalized Group in Rural Communities of Kwara State Nigeria

    Management ensure a well-coordinated efforts aimed at ensuring effectiveness of the literacy education to serve the marginalized groups. Thus, this paper focus attention on the strategies in ensuring effective management of literacy education on marginalized group in rural communities of Kwara State Nigeria. It looks into the concept of literacy and literacy education as it impact on marginalized individual economic well-being. It is accepted that effective management of literacy education could enhance individual marginalized group abilities to cope with the evolving challenges they experience and enhance their chances in the society where they belongs. Hence, education has to be redefined in the context of marginalize individual to make it responsive to their yearning for a better living conditions. The paper takes a review of marginalized groups, their features and status, certain strategies to address literacy education among the marginalized groups were discussed. Against this premise, conclusions were drawn and some recommendations were made to include the need for the need to expand learning programmes to nooks and corners of the federation and the learning centers must be placed close to learners’ residence so as to encourage regular participation by all. Also, Government at all level in Nigeria should develop and implement interventions such as subsidies for direct educational costs and greater cultural sensitization to the educationally marginalized groups. Also, appropriate national government policy and political will are necessary preconditions to expanding access to educationally marginalized populations.

    Impact of Adult Education on Social Inclusion and Empowerment of Women in Selected Rural Communities in Kwara State

    Adult Education serves as a catalyst for personal and societal transformation, empowering individuals to achieve their full potentials, participate meaningfully in their communities, and contribute to social and economic development thereby, champion social inclusion among women in rural communities. Thus, the paper focused on the impact of adult education on social inclusion and empowerment of women in selected rural communities in Kwara State. The objectives of the paper among others was to determine the available social inclusion programme that facilitates women empowerment programme in rural communities and ascertain the level of effectiveness of the social inclusion on women empowerment programme in rural communities in Kwara State, Nigeria. Findings from the analysed datą revealed that adult education has significant impact on social inclusion and women empowerment programs in rural communities in Kwara State. Thus, recommendations provided includes; improve the reach and effectiveness of existing social inclusion and women empowerment programs by increasing resources and refining strategies based on regular evaluations and implementation of targeted interventions to overcome challenges such as limited access, socio-cultural barriers, and financial constraints.

    Impact of Community Advocacy Programme on Drugs and Substance Abuse Among Youths in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State.

    This paper looked into the perceived impact of community advocacy programme on drugs and substance abuse among youths in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State. Concepts of drugs, substance abuse among youths, as well as perceived causes of drugs abuse were discussed with emphasis on the effects of drugs abuse among youth in the community. It was recommended that government should enact measures on people that are selling drugs indiscriminately by supervising the target area at least monthly if possible and also check the activities of the victims of drug abuse among others.

    Promoting Adults' Health Sustainability Through Social Media Advocacy in Nigeria

    The paper focuses on promoting adult learners’ health sustainability through social media advocacy in Nigeria. The paper discusses the concept social media, health and sustainability health, adult education and the emerging role of social media to promote health behaviours towards a sustainable outcome. Emerging research is focused on evaluating the potential of social media as an opportunity to create awareness. Such measures require less effort in quantifying and isolating the effect. The design of the campaigns is required to be aligned in relation to stages of the behaviour change. The study provides suggestions and recommendations on how this can be achieved. One of the recommendations provided includes the need to implement fact-checking mechanisms on social media platforms to swiftly identify and counter false health information to help reduce the spread of harmful health-related rumours. Also, citizens should increase the use of social media tools for remote consultations, especially in rural areas, to enhance access to healthcare and reduce the burden on physical health facilities

    Self Help: A Tool for Enhancing Sustainable Community Development Among Rural Dwellers in Nigeria

    In spite of all governments’ efforts to bring overall development to every part of the country, rural communities still lag behind in acquiring some basic amenities but underdeveloped as compared to urban areas. This paper seeks to explore community self-help as a tool for enhancing sustainable community development among rural dwellers in Nigeria. The paper further explained why the rural dwellers need to embrace self-help initiative to make up for neglect and delay on the part of government. It aims to adopt Self-help as a tool for enhancing sustainable development among rural dwellers in Nigeria. It is guided by General System Theory of Development, and highlighted the significance of self-help activities in fostering and promoting sustainable Community development. Lastly, the challenges of self-help initiative and proffer solutions to the stated challenges were discussed.

    Training Needs and Employability of Adult and Non-Formal Education Graduates in Northern Nigeria

    This study used a quantitative descriptive survey and the Employability and Training Needs Skills Scale (ETNSS) to assess the training needs and employability of prospective Adult and Non-formal Education graduates (PGAE) in Northwest and Northeast Nigeria. The findings indicate a low level of relevance in the current PGAE curriculum for developing essential workplace skills. The research revealed a critical need to deepen student training to incorporate generic competencies vital for impactful learning and career prospects. Specifically, the study identified the necessity for enhanced training in entrepreneurial, critical thinking, technical knowledge, effective communication, and numeracy skills. Although limited by self-reporting bias, these findings offer valuable insights to the Nigeria National University Commission and Adult Education departments, informing the review and redesign of the B.Ed. Adult and Non-formal Education degree program to better equip graduates with the employability skills required for successful careers.
