Item Appraisal of Social Welfare Practices and the well-being of staff of Selected Federal Learning Institutions in Kwara State, Nigeria.(Nigerian Journal of Education Foundations (Accepted/In-press), 2019-05-06) Abdullahi, A. K.; Ambali, T. T.Abstract The study Appraised Social Welfare Practices on well-being of staff of selected Federal learning institutions in Kwara State, Nigeria. The study has five objectives and five research questions. Descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. 5,716 were considered as the target population from which a sample size of 361 respondents was selected through multi-stage sampling procedure. A self-developed questionnaire was used for data collection. The reliability of the instrument was done using test re-test technique and a co-efficient 0.87 was obtained using Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC). The data collected were analyzed using frequency count and percentages. Among the findings of the study were: that the level of awareness of social welfare practices among staff of the selected Federal Learning institutions was high and that social welfare had positive impact on well-being of staff especially in the areas of improvement of socio-economic status, access to better health care, as well as addressing certain financial needs. The study recommended that the management of social welfare practices need to create more awareness among staff so as to increase level of patronage and periodic interview should be conducted on members to determine whether the practice have positive impact on them. O.Abstract This study examined instructional competency and resources for adult literacy learners from the perspective of learners and Instructors in Kwara State. The paper has a research question and one (1) hypothesis to guide the study. Multi-stage sampling procedure was adopted; at the first stage cluster sampling technique was used to select sixteen (16) adult literacy centers’ in each of the Local Government Areas in Kwara State. At the second stage, simple random sampling technique was adopted to draw eighty (80) adult literacy instructors and eighty (80) learners. A structured interview and questionnaire were used as the instruments for data collection. And also, teaching assessment format was designed by the researchers, to assess instructors’ instructional competency. The data collected were subjected to appropriate statistical analysis; mean rating and t-test were used. Hypothesis formulated for the study was tested at 0.05 level of significance. The findings of the study revealed that the perspective level of instructors and learners is high and insignificant difference exited in the perspective level of instructors and learners on instructional competency and resources in adult teaching and learning. Based on the findings, recommendations were proffered for the instructors and Agency for Mass Literacy amongst which was that government should make provision for more instructional materials, employ more personnel and allowance of instructors should be paid as at when due. K.This paper looks in to the problems and prospects of lifelong education as perceived by the facilitators in the 21"centuiy, considering the fact that the economy is depressed and there are too many challenges on the workforce which intensely amplifies the needs and demands for learners to improve on their proficiencies, acquire skills and knowledge align to the new emerge economic situation to avoid being laid off. This study realized that, in solving many prevailing problems in the country life education seems to be the tool to address these challenges due to the fact that, it embodies knowledge and learning that emphasized relevance, responsiveness, respect, dignity and integrity in all, irrespective of age, gender, creed, equality, socio-economic and political justice. Descriptive survey was adopted for the study and multi stage sampling technique was used in the process. The study was narrowed down to Kwara Central Senatorial District, with its four Local Government Areas. The population of the study were all the public senior secondary school Head teachers and head of other Educational departments. However; the total respondents sampled were two hundred questionnaire was the measure used to collect data for the study. Among the findings of the study was lack of great public awareness on lifelong education, lack of adequate fund for the smooth sailing of the programme. Therefore, the study recommended that adequate and continuous awareness be made available to the general public and adequate fund should be provided to run the programme effectively. T.This study examined the availability and utilization of information and communication technology (ICT) among instructors in adult and nonformal education centers in Kwara State, Nigeria. Three objectives were raised and translated to research questions to guide the study. A descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study and 271 was considered as the target populations comprising male and female instructors. A sample size of one hundred and sixty (160) respondents was selected across the State. A multi-stage sampling procedure consisting of cluster sampling, purposive sampling and simple random sampling was adopted. Check list and questionnaire were used as an instrument for data collection for the study. The reliability of instruments was achieved using test-retest technique and a co-efficient 0.82 was obtained. The administration of the instruments was carried out by the researchers and five volunteer field research assistants. The data collected was analyzed using frequency count and percentages. One of the findings revealed that the level of utilization of ICT among instructors was low. It is therefore, recommended that there is a need to create awareness among instructors on the level of utilization of ICT to increase the level of consciousness for effective teaching learning process.Item Community Mobilization towards addressing Orphans and Vulnerable Children phenomenon in Nigeria.(African Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies. K.; Abdulwahab, R.; Habibu, I.Y.This study examined community mobilization towards addressing orphans and vulnerable children phenomenon in Nigeria. Three research questions were raised and one null hypothesis was tested to guide the study. A descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. 6,774,331wasconsidered as the target populations. A sample size of 480 respondents selected was across the six geopolitical zone of Nigeria. A multi-stage sampling procedure consisting of stratified sampling, simple random sampling and purposive sampling technique was used. A self-developed questionnaire and Focus Group Discussion (FGD) were used for data collection. The reliability test of the instruments was done using test retest technique and a co-efficient 0.87 was obtained. The administration of the instrument was done by the researchers and five field research assistants. The data collected were analyzed using frequency count, percentages, mean and Pearson Product Moment Correlation. Hypothesis formulated was tested at 0.05 level of significance. One of the findings revealed that the needs of OVC have not been adequately met. It was therefore, recommended that community members should pool their resources and ideas to carter for them especially in providing access to health, education and welfare services. T.; Abdullahi, A. K.Abstract This study examined corporate social responsibility of Airtel Nigeria towards Youth Empowerment and well-being of the people in Lagos Metropolis. Descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. The target population of the study were 4,174 comprise male and female A sample size of 250 respondents were selected through multi-stage sampling procedure. A self-designed questionnaire was used for data collection. The reliability of the instrument was done using test re-test technique and a co-efficient 0.85 was obtained through Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC). The administration of the instrument was done by the researchers and four field research assistants. The data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics: frequency counts, percentages and mean scores. The findings of the study revealed that the lack of accurate data, inadequate funding are the challenges facing Airtel Nigeria in providing social responsibility. The study therefore, recommended that: Airtel Nigeria should use survey data to conclude on any project or programme intended for the youth. Accurate data of youth residing in Lagos metropolis, as well as challenges facing the youth should be put into consideration in planning any cooperate social responsibility programmes. T.; Abdullahi, A. K.Abstract This study focused on the impact of National Directorate of Employment vocational training programme on participants’ standard of living in Kwara State. The paper has one research question and three (3) hypotheses to guide the researchers. Survey design was used and sample for the study comprised one hundred and fifty (150) respondents randomly selected from various vocational centers across the three (3) Senatorial Districts in Kwara State. A questionnaire was used as the instrument for data collection. The reliability co-efficient of the instrument was done using test retest technique. A reliability coefficient of 0.87 was obtained which revealed that the instrument was reliable enough to carry out the study. The data collected were subjected to appropriate analysis such as frequency counts, percentage, t-test and Analysis of Variance. All hypotheses formulated for the study were tested at 0.05 alpha level of significance. The findings of the study revealed that vocational training has improved quality of life of the participants in the state and there were no differences on the impact based on gender, age and working experience. Based on the findings recommendations were proffered for the participants and the Directorate amongst which was that government should make provision for more resettlement items to enable the Directorate to settle more participants as they complete the programme.
