Item Relationship between lecturers’ commitment and university goal achievement in south-west geo-political zone, Nigeria. KLecturers need to be committed to the university in order to be efficient and effective. J\1ost often than not, lecturers in Nigerian universities are blamed for under- perfonnance of uni\iersities. This study therefore investigate (i) the :zevel of lecturerl'· commitment in south west geopolitical zone, Nigeria, (ii) the level of university goal achievement in south west geo-political zone, Nigeria, and (iii) ff there is any relationship between leciure,~s' commitment and university goal achievement. Descriptive research design was adopted for the study. The population of the study is 4,951 lecturers of federal universities in south 1vest geo-political zone, . Nigeria. Proportional sampling technique was used to select 1,361 lec;turers and students' academic performance pro~forma was used to collect data on university goal achievement because it was limited to university goal achievement in teaching. Percentage was used td answer the research questions while Chi-square statistic was used to test the hypothesis formulated. The findings ~f the study showed fha't (i) university lecturers in south west geopolitical zone, Nigeria are committed, (ii) the level of university goal achievement (in teaching) in south west geo-political zone, Nigeria is on the average, and (iii) there Is significant relationship between lecturers' commitment and university goal achievement in south west geo-political zone, Nigeria. The study . concluded that to enhance university goal achievement high lecturers' commitment must be ensured it was therefore recommended that lecturers' commitment should he enhanced through the provision of adequate developmental programmes, adequate cornpensation, high supervisory and co-worker support_
