Its local causes and effects are underexplored. It is against this background that this study sought to assess perceived causes, consequences, and mitigation strategies for street begging among adults in Sango, Ilorin, Nigeria. The study adopted a cross-sectional design with 460 adults selected through a multistage sampling procedure for a structured interview, using a semi-structured interviewer administered questionnaire. Data collected were analysed using descriptive statistics and chi-square tests at p<0.05. Poverty, disability, and family breakdown were found to be the key causes of street begging, while consequences included sexual violence and assault. The study recommended that street begging reflects deep-rooted social vulnerabilities needing sustainable policy solutions like the establishment of destitute centres and the provision of financial aid for the destitute and disabled.Item Assessment of Neurochemical and Biochemical Safety of Levonorgestrel in Female Wistar Rats: Implications for Quality Assurance in Contraceptive Use and Supplement Co-administration(2026-07) ABDULRAHIM Amin Halimat; AMEEN, Abolore Hafsat; OJULARI, Lekan Sheriff; AYINDE Olanrewaju Taofeek; OMEIZA Noah Adavize; Temitope Nofisat, MOHAMMED; AYENI Mayowa Timilehin; ABDULGANIYY, Hambali Hauwa; OLAYAKI Aribidesi LuqmanThis study investigated the neurobiological effects of levonorgestrel (LNG), a widely used contraceptive medication, and the potential modulatory role of melatonin, a readily available supplement. Using a female Wistar rat model, the research examined the effects of varying dosages and exposure frequencies of LNG, alone and in combination with melatonin, on neuro-oxidative stress, lipid profiles, and bioenergetics. The findings of this study have significant implications for global health and well-being, particularly in ensuring medication safety and promoting sustainable health practices. The research contributed to a broader understanding of pharmaceutical impacts on diverse populations worldwide, addressing challenges in quality assurance and safe medication use. The study's results can inform educational initiatives regarding responsible medication use and supplement co-administration, ultimately promoting public health and well-being.
