    ASSESSMENT OF ICT UTILISATION AMONG LEGAL PRACTITIONERS IN KWARA STATE

    ICT holds the key to success of modernizing information and legal profession is in dire need this. This study examines the utilization of ICTs among legal practitioners in Kwara State. The study adopted a descriptive survey design, the population of the study was 772 consists of all the registered legal practitioners in Ilorin and Offa branches of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA). Total enumeration was adopted and stratified sampling technique applied. The study used questionnaire as data collection instrument and the data collected were analyzed. The study found out the available ICT resources includes mobile phones, laptops, desktops, scanners, electronic court records, Internets and CD-Rom, which the legal practitioners use on daily bases purposely to further knowledge on legal issues, for the work in progress and to defend their client in the court of law. The study also reported that revamping nature of ICT resources, poor internet facility, epileptic power supply are some of the challenges that legal practitioners encountered while using ICT resources. The study concludes that ICT utilization is ponderous in legal profession. Among the recommendations given is that a standby generator/inerter should be provided to curb the issue of power failure.     Disaster Preparedness and Security Practices of Library Collections in Kwara State University Library

    This study examines the disaster preparedness and security measures of collections in Kwara State University Library. This study aims to identify the kinds of disaster that can affect both the library and its collection, identify strategies adopted to prevent the library from disaster, identify collections that are highly prone to disaster. A survey research method was adopted for this study. The total population for the study was twenty (21). Of the population, total enumeration sampling technique was used to select 15 library staff. These comprise of library portal, library assistant, library officer, librarians, clerical staffs, systems analyst and library secretary. The instrument used for the collection of data for this research were questionnaire. The total number of the questionnaire administered were 15 and the 15 copies were filled and retrieved. The questionnaire retrieved were used for statistical analysis. Frequency tables and simple percentage were the main statistical tools used in analyzing the result. The result of the analysis shows that the types of disaster that can affect both the library and its collections are; flood, biological agents (microorganisms or insects), earthquakes, man made disaster, fire, water. Some recommendations were made to help prevent the library from disaster and management of security, some of the recommendations are: the library should employ well-trained security guards that can fight all forms of disaster, Detective gadgets should be provided in the library.     LIBRARIANS’TECHNOLOGICAL COMPETENCE, PERFORMANCE, EXPECTANCY, AND PERCEIVED EASE OF THE USE OF AUTOMATION SOFTWARE IN ACADEMIC LIBRARIES IN OGUN STATE

    This study examined librarians’ technological competence, performance, expectancy, and perceived ease of the use of automation software in academic libraries in Ogun state. A descriptive survey research design was adopted for this study. The total enumeration method was employed to select 104 respondents for the study. A self-designed and close-ended questionnaire was used as the instrument for gathering data from the respondents. The data gathered was analyzed using descriptive statistics such as frequency counts, percentages, mean, and standard deviation.Findings revealed there was a high level of librarians’ technological competence of librarians. There was a high level of librarians’ performance expectancy of automated software. The perceived ease of the use of automation software was high. The study revealed that the major problems affecting the use of automation software by librarians are frequent virus attacks, non-compatibility of the software, inadequate technical support of the automation software, and limited user community. It was therefore recommended that librarians should enhance ongoing professional development programs to keep librarians abreast of the latest advancements in automation software, ensuring they stay proficient and adaptable in the rapidly evolving technological landscape.

    Perceived Roles of AI-Powered Educational Technologies on Undergraduates' Academic Excellence in Selected Library Schools in South-west, Nigeria.},

    The integration of AI into education aims to optimize learning outcomes, enhance efficiency, and empower educators and students alike. This study examined the perceived roles of AI-academic excellence in selected library schools in South-West, Nigeria. A descriptive survey research design was adopted for this study. A stratified random sampling technique was employed to select 324 undergraduate students in three (3) selected library schools in South-West, Nigeria. A self-designed and close-ended questionnaire was used as the instrument for gathering data from the respondents. Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC) was used to analyse the data gathered. Findings revealed that perceived roles of AI-powered educational technologies significantly enhance academic excellence (r = .687**), academic knowledge (r = .816**), quality education (r = .530**) and knowledge accessibility (r = .650**) among undergraduates in selected library schools in South-West, Nigeria (p < .05). Based on the findings, it was recommended that universities should invest in robust AI infrastructure and platforms that support personalized learning experiences and adaptive educational technologies. Educational policymakers should establish clear guidelines and ethical frameworks for the responsible implementation of AI in education; they should collaborate with educators.

    UTILISATION AND MANAGEMENT OF ELECTRONIC RESOURCES IN SELECTED ACADEMIC LIBRARIES IN SOUTH-WEST, NIGERIA

    The focus of this study is on the utilization and management of electronic resources in selectedacademiclibrariesinSouth-WestNigeria.Thestudydesignusedwasa descriptive survey. The population of the study comprised librarians in six (6) selected academic libraries which cut across all the South-Western states in Nigeria. A total enumeration sampling was applied. A total of 103 of the 105 copies of the questionnaire were returned and valid for data analysis. The data gathered was subjected to descriptive statistics i.e. frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation. Results showed that academic websites, electronic journals, electronic books and full text databases were the main types of electronic resources accessible at the two selected university libraries located in South-West, Nigeria. The libraries employed android phones, laptops, smart phones, portable devices, and smart wristwatches as main electronic resource access devices. The major strategies for the management of electronic resources are collection development policies, huge information reservoirs, easy citations, archive and installing air-conditionals. Collection development policies, air conditioning installation, large information reservoirs, simple citations, and archiving were the main techniques used to manage their electronic resources. Lack of access to the internet, poor resource collection, restricted access to computer terminals, and non-availability of electronic resources are the main issues with the creation and administration of electronic resources. It was recommended that university libraries should provide trained staff to assist patrons in utilizing electronic resources and expand access to diverse electronic materials, including databases,conferenceproceedings,andelectronictheses,toenhancenavigation, academic productivity, and research opportunities for staff and students.
