Lighting is an indispensable part of any theatre production. It gives worth and explicit understanding to actions in a performance. The use of light for stage performances goes beyond mere illumination but creates effect and serves other purposes in performance aesthetics. It is on this ground that this article analyses the lighting arrangement and impact in the stage production of Ogun Lakaaye, as University of Ilorin Convocation play. This article uses the deductive and participant observation methods. For deductive method, we analyse and deduce information from recorded video tapes. Thus, the information gathered from the video tape serves as our primary source while our secondary source incorporate articles from scholarly journals, monologue, textbooks, and web sources. We discovered that, lighting designers' explorations are limited because the type of equipment used are out of date. With new inventions, theatre/stage light can now serve the purpose of set design, illumination, and effect creation.
