Youths have been described as the strengths and beauties of the society, simply because they constitute about 65% of the occupants of a society. They can be called the backbones of the society because of their strength and agility. Every society tries to make adequate preparations for her youths, who are referred to as “the future” of the society. However, events in the last two decades showed that, most of the youths in our societies are incapacitated in a way or others. These were as a result of collapse in the economy and financial imbalance, caused by various acts of the ruling class and elites in the society. Most of the youths, that ought to be financially independent are not; due to various political and economic policies enacted by the ruling class. Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), the umbrella body of Christian Churches in Nigeria, being a religious body which was formed to oversee the wellbeing of Christians in Nigeria has been at the forefront of ending the financial and economic incapacitations of the youths through its various programmes. This paper takes a critical look at the impacts of CAN to the development of youths in Nigeria. It also tries to assess the level to which these developmental programmes have helped the youths in solving most of their problems. Historical, descriptive and empirical methods are adopted in the paper. The findings of the paper shows CAN has introduced various developmental programmes for youths in Nigeria. It concluded by suggesting other ways by which developmental programmes can be used for social, political and economic development of youths in Nigeria.en_US
