Abstract
This paper discusses the role of expatriate teachers in the Teaching and Learning of Science between 1969 and 1979. It is contended that the paucity of trained and qualified teachers, mostly in science-based subjects, led to the recruitment of expatriate teacher in secondary schools in the Old Kwara State between 1969 and 1979. Indeed; the employment of the expatriate teachers complemented the efforts of the few indigenous science teachers in the post-primary institutions. This is reflected in the performance of students in science subjects in public examinations like the West African Examinations (WAEC) taken over a period of eleven years. This has served as justification for their employment by the State ministry of Education.
