dc.description.abstractThis study introduces a metamaterial MIMO antenna design that offers frequency reconfigurability. The antenna is intended for Internet of Things (IoT) applications. It is simulated using an FR4 substrate with dimensions of 1.6mm thickness and 0.025 loss tangent. Based on the proposed design, the MTM MIMO antenna can operate at 2.5GHz & 2.54GHz (WLAN), 4.2GHz, 6.6GHz, 6.64GHz & 7.8GHz (C-Band), and 9.6GHz &9.7GHz (X-Band). To accomplish this, Two PIN diodes are connected to each gap capacitance of the MTM antenna. The performance enhancement of the reconfigurable MTM MIMO antenna was achieved using a CST microwave solver. The system performance was validated using ADS. Furthermore, the diversity metric conducted on the proposed MTM MIMO antenna revealed that the antenna has a low correlation coefficient (<0.03), total active reflection coefficient (<0dB), and channel capacity loss of (<0.4bits/sec/Hz). The simulated isolation of <-20dB is noticed for all four states. The antenna peak gain is 3.1 dBi. An MTM MIMO antenna with these characteristics suits many IOT communication systems.
