Aging is an inevitable phenomenon in every living thing and as human advance in age to older adulthood, which is associated with the occurrence of chronic non-communicable diseases especially in developing countries, of which Nigeria is one. Despite the abundance of information by researchers, participation in physical activities remains low amongst older adults in developing countries, especially those living in urban areas. Based on the outcome of the reviewed, it was recommended that, older people should be encouraged to increase their participation in physical activities which will in turn promote their health status and healthy ageing. Adults should partake in at least two strength-training sessions a week that will improve the body's major muscle groups for healthy ageing. Older people between 50 years and above should engage in at least 150 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity a week, while people who engage in more vigorous intensity exercise, such as jogging, should aim for 10-15 minutes, three days a week.
