The welfare of the Nigerian children took a different dimension on 31st of July 2003 when the then Nigerian president signed the Child Rights Act. And since the passage of this legislative instrument, it has been touted that this would be first time that the minors are adequately recognised and sufficiently protected by the law. thus, the aim of this paper is to examine and identify the core principles upon which the CRA 2003 was promulgated, appraise them using the Shariah principles in order to show that the rights of the children, nay human rights, have been adequately provided for by the Shariah.en_US
