Abstract
The poor performance of public enterprises in Nigeria have necessitated calls from the different sectors of the polity for government to privatise its various public enterprises for self-reliance, efficiency and economic growth. The IMF in particular, was instrumental in pressing on the Federal Government the need to take on the challenges of liberalisation of public enterprises for better productivity and relevance in the global economy.
