Abstract

Broadly speaking, three different educational systems exist in Nigeria, these are indigenous, Islamic and Western education systems. Each of the three systems contributes immensely to individual upbringing in particular and nation building in general. In this paper, attempt was made to explain the conceptual meaning of traditional and modern Arabic and Islamic education, its emergence and development in Irepo Local Government, its features and how it has impacted in promoting scholarship among people. Finally, recommendations are suggested for its future development.
