Abstract

A study of history of English literature is a worthwhile literary supplement for readers of history and literature, that highlights the beginning and subsequent developments of English Literature, stipulates the peculiarities of each developmental theory in terms of their literary and aesthetic features. This study, Using the themes and forms of the various times serves as reflection on the happenings of each age. Many Studies in English literature fail to consider the historical perspectives of the texts. Thomas Hardy`s Mayor of Casterbridge for example, can only be better understood from the deep insight into disorderly agricultural setting of the Victorian era.
