The advent of globalisation has ushered in large and small industries to become global. They have ceased to be local and migrated into national and global industries. Even those organisations who consider themselves immune to transactions across geographical boundaries are connected to the wider network globally and this has encouraged many multinational companies to extend their operations to other countries by establishing subsidiary companies in other countries. For these companies to do well, sound human resource practices must be put in place. This paper therefore aims to achieve the problems and prospects of global human resource practices among multinational companies in Nigeria; The paper extensively reviewed literature on Multinational HR practices. A total of one hundred and thirty (130) employees from 5 multinational companies within Lagos state were selected. Primary data was employed in this study that consists of structured questionnaire. Chi-square statistical method was used to analyse the data. Based on the findings, the paper therefore concluded that success of any multinational company lies in a firm’s ability to build an inimitable competitive advantage against others. This competitive advantage will last longer if it is within the human capital rather than just a technology that others can easily imitate. It is recommended however that a multinational enterprise should acquaint itself with the various environmental settings that are likely to inhibit its success and design ways to beat them in advance.
