Abstract

The introduction of the Health insurance Scheme in Nigeria has resulted in the arrival of new players in the Health sector. who are making effort to bring about better healthcare services to the people. This effort has not achieved the results due to few people mostly public servants, enjoying the services of the Scheme. Iris considered that the participation of’ Health Maintenance Organisations (HMOs) and accredited health Care facilities Would serve as channels for access to quality healthcare and consumer satisfaction. The objective of this paper is to examine the customers’ perception of these organization and the .cervices they render, This paper employs interview method with consumers of healthcare services in Lagos state. The finding indicates that despite the respondents being satisfied with the services offered. there is ample need for services improvement. The paper concludes that, the health insurance if well managed and its services extends o those not covered by the scheme, this would go a long way in bringing about improve health status of the people. The study recommends the need fir constant monitoring of healthcare providers and HMOs for more qualitative service delivery in Nigeria.
