Abstract

ABSTRACT This study investigated physical resource management as correlate of Universal Basic Education effectiveness in North-central, Nigeria. The purposes of this study is to examine the relationship between physical resources management and effective universal basic education. Quantitative research design was used for the study. Sample of 331principals and 384 teachers were proportionally selected in the seven states with the use of Research Advisor (2006), table of determining sample size of known population. Stratified random sampling techniques was used to select principals and teachers of the sample public junior secondary schools in order to guarantee that all category population has equal chance of being chosen. T-test statistical analysis was used to analyze the collected data. The results showed that there was no significant difference between preventive maintenance, routine maintenance and Universal Basic Education effectiveness in Nigeria. It was thus, recommended that principals and teachers should continue to maintain preventive maintenance of physical resource for effective Universal Basic Education as well as ensure routine maintenance of physical resources in order to help prolonging the life expectancy of physical facilities.
