The common notion of drama is that it is a mere entertainment device meant for the stage. This writer however deviates from this view because findings on an investigation into drama in Nigerian Nupe Society reveals in totality that the concept of drama goes beyond its mere entertainment motif. Also, the didactic essence of drama within the Nigerian Nupe set-up is not as important as its pragmatic relevance to the socio-economic and political reality of Nupe culture in Nigeria. This research exposes the inseparability and union of theatre and drama and the Nupe social and religious practices in Nigeria.en_US
