The period of Amos in the eight century Israel witnessed the unprecedented prosperity, but then rich people were using their wealth to oppress the poor. Similarly, Nigeria is blessed with all kinds of mineral resources but the issue of social justice has become prevalent in every sector of the society. dc.description.abstractThe period of Amos in the eight century Israel witnessed the unprecedented prosperity, but then rich people were using their wealth to oppress the poor. Similarly, Nigeria is blessed with all kinds of mineral resources but the issue of social justice has become prevalent in every sector of the society. The thrust of this paper therefore, is to carry out an exegesis of Amos 5:23-24 for the purpose of drawing lessons on the issue of injustice in Nigeria. The study adopts historical and exegetical methods to achieve its aim. It is discovered from Amos 5:23-24 that religious activities without justice are abominable and unacceptable to God. Similarly, the study shows that there are lots of religious activities in Nigeria but the problem of injustice traceable to bad governance is very rampant. The paper recommended among others that Nigeria citizens must insist through pressure groups to put in place a restructured Nigerian state that ensures equal distribution of resources. In conclusion, while there is a need for both political and judicial functionaries to have a change of heart from their selfish interest, the law must not be a respecter of anyone either rich or poor so that injustice would be a thing of the past in Nigeria.
