dc.description.abstractFrom a global perspective, civil society organisations have been seen as agents of development. Their role especially in the 21st century cannot be over emphasized. The role of Civil Society Organisations in the democratic projects in Africa have made them to be a force to be reckoned with, especially in the areas of engendering good governance and credible electoral process. It is on this note that this paper aims to examine the roles played by the civil society organisations in the 2019 general elections. Another objective is to identify ways by which civil society organisations helped to achieve peaceful and credible elections in the 2019 general elections. This is in view of its role in previous elections especially the 2011 and 2015 general elections. The paper is anchored on structural functional theory and qualitative research method. The paper recommends that Civil Society Organisations should shun kickback from government in order for them to maintain their integrity.
