Abstract
Epistaxis literally means nose bleed and it can be a life threatening emergency. it occur in 10-12% of the general population. Adequate knowledge of first line management is important for every medical practitioner to avoid unnecessary referral to the Otolaryngologist who are sparsely distributed.particularly in the developing countries. Th Management of epistaxis depend on the clinical state of patient at presentation; the simplest method that can control the bleeding is followed but difficult case should promptly be referred to the appropriate specialist to reduce morbidity and mortality from this common emergency.
